Default pregnancy test question

Hi Ladies,
I finally O'd on CD 55. Somehow we ended up timing it well and DTD 2 days before O, so I'm amazed. My luteal phase has been 11 days mostly. It used to be 13 days last year. And most recently, while using acupuncture (whch I'm no longer doing), it was 14 days. My question is this - does luteal phase play a role in when its appropriate to take a HPT at home? My RE's office said I could come in for a blood test when my period was late - but with this kind of luteal phase variability, I'm not quite sure what late is. So to sum it up, I'm not sure when to take a HPT, or to go to the RE for a blood test. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

I think you're supposed to wait for for the end of your luteal phase to test, but you can test before. I got my BFP on 12DPO, but not all woman get it so early because it depends on implantation.

That being said, you're doing a beta at the doctors....
I think you should wait until 14DPO since that has been the longest for you.
BUT since that's not the norm you might consider scheduling for 12-13DPO...
but I think 14DPO, and you don't get AF by then, then I'd say you chances of BFP are higher by this date.

Have you asked your doctor about this?

I sound confusing.... sorry.
Hope this helps

Yes, lp can play a big part in when you test. Not necessarily for false positives as much as false negatives. But, usually 14dpo is a good average time to test, unless your lp is usually longer (again-false negative). I agree w/ PP that if you're getting a beta, I'd wait until at least 14dpo.
Good luck!!

I have gotten 2 bfp's on day 12, but only with VERY sensitive tests. Usually FRER.
