Default pregnant?

Had a blood test on friday but I don't have results yet. Anyway I have 3 children the last of them is 4. It's been a while since I have been pregnant and I wasn't diagnosed with PCOS when I had my children. So here are my questions...
1. did anyone here take home pregnancy tests and have them come back negative when you were pregnant?
2. I am on Metformin...how long should I stay on this to help keep the pregnancy going? Can I take it my entire pregnancy? I know that there is no studies out there that say it is safe.

Thanks

I have never been pregnant but I do know that many times you can get what is called a "false negative" on HPT. HPT have different levels at which they can detect HGC with is the hormone detected during pregnancy. It may simply be too soon to detect. Blood test are the most accurate. As far as metformin the lastest studies show that women with PCOS should take metformin at least thru the first trimester although may be beneficial throughout whole pregnancy. It appears that it reduces chances of miscarriage which is a higher precentage in women with PCOS. Keep us posted.

Please check on the Trying To Coneive boards and the Article boards as they have tons of info on Metformin and pregnancy, etc. Some of the newer studies I think say that there was no problem found in babies who had moms who took Met. during the first months of pregnancy.

Some cysters have had fake negatives, others fake positives. You can ask about the most reliable brands on the Pregnancy board.
