Question Pregnant on Glucophage.....question

I'm 11 weeks pregnant and my OB has taken me off Glucophage XR. My RE told my I would probably be on it well into my pregnancy.
I'd like to know who is/isn't taking glucophage during pregnancy.
Thanks!
Maureen

I'm about 20 weeks pg, and i'm still on glucophage. My RE wanted me to do it at least till the first trimester was over, but it was my decision how long i continue.

I take reg. gluc 1500mgs. But after my successful 20 week u/s on wed. I'm weaning down to 1000 for awhile. Then in 3rd trimester i'll probably go to 500mgs.

I passed my first one hour GTT with flying colors with a number of 95! so i believe whole heartedly in it. THere are my cysters who are staying on it for the entire pg. As of the 20 week u/s my baby is perfect!!!!!! so i'm a supporter!

I only stayed on through the 1st trimester.....I've had two 1 hour GTT's since I'm a higher risk for GD and I passed both with flying colors! I'm now 36w 1d pregnant and after today will be on bedrest due to my blood pressure increasing.

I am still TTC, but the perinatologist that works with my RE wants all pg ladies to stay on the met thoughout pregnancy. There reasoning is that there are many documented benefits, and not one incident of birth defects. If I ever get there, I will stay on the met.

Good luck to you!

I went off met immediately when I found out I was pg at 5 weeks, and now I have a healthy baby girl Emma who is 3 mos old. I still think it is best to stay on it, but if you have Dr.'s like mine who said no way, then just pray that things go ok, that is what I did.

I was on 2000mgs of Met XR until my 14th week, then 1000mgs throughout the rest of my pregnancy. I had no problems with gestational diabetes, and ended up only gaining about 15 pounds. Before I started taking it (pre-pregancy) I felt really sluggish all the time, but felt much better on the met. I didn't want to go back to feeling like that AND be pregnant!!
My daugter is 4 months now- she's perfect!
