Prenatal vitamins

First I'd like to say HELLO to everyone....I know, I have not been on lately.....but I am back.

However, I had a question for anyone that may know.

I just went to gyno last week and he prescribed prenatal vitamins for me and I am really not sure why and at the time I didn't even think to ask. But the reason I am wondering why is because I am not pregnant. I am trying but not yet. Why would he want to prescribe prenatal vitamins if I am not pregnant? Has this happended to anyone else? Or know why?

If you are ttc, most dr's will RX prenatal vitamins. It helps to ensure you have proper nutrients in your body even before you conceive. And obviously, you don't know the second you conceive and that early time frame is such a critical point of development in your baby. It's vital that you have enough nutrients to support both that development and your own body's needs.
