My Mood: Points: 5,430.67 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 5,430.67 | Prenatal Vitamins Hi Ladies,
I am not pregnant, but I take prenatal vitamins. I thought that it would be the best vitamin for a woman during their fertile period in life.
Yesterday I was working and I told a woman that I was taking prenatal vitamins. She said I should not take them unless I was pregnant or nursing, I am neither. I asked her why, she said that prenatal vitamins makes you gain weight a lactate. I have never heard that before.
Is that true? Does prenatal vitamins make you gain weight and lactate (I think the lactate part is wrong... There is no way to lactate unless you have that hormone in your body.) But is the weight gain part true?
I am so confused.... I thought that vitamins no matter what kind does not make you gain weight.... I am such an idiot.
Any info is much appreciated.
Thanks!

Women who are considering getting pregnant are urged to start taking them because the folic acid is needed to lower the risk of birth defects.
The only drawback prenatal vitamins that I can think of would be that they are low in vitamin A because this vitamin has proven to be detrimental to fetal development.
Hope this answers your questions.
A.

Lactation is hormonal, so not influenced by the vitamins.
And nope, you're not an idiot.

I am already a big fat pig trying to loose weight, I do not want to get fatter. Did I mention that I am a self doubter?!
Thanks for your response.

My Mood: Points: 5,430.67 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 5,430.67 | Yeah, I am just so paranoid that I am going to keep gaining weight. Everything makes me paraniod.... I miss being skinny.
I lactated when I was in my 5th month of pregnancy.... But that was the hormone kicking in.
But I was so worried about the weight gaining part.
You girls are awesome!
Thank you!
Sinnie, what is your diet and exercise secret? How long did it take to get used to the change?

My Mood: Points: 15,384.24 Bank: 2,852,350.40 Total Points: 2,867,734.65 | Well I lost the bulk of my weight just by diet alone. I kept my calories under 1500, carbs under 180. High fiber and protein and watched my sodium because at the high weight I had high blood pressure.
I ended up getting off the diet when I hit a plateau in the 240s and gained back 10lbs. It took a while to get back on track because the cravings for junk food was the worst this time around.
I am now doing at least 300 minutes of exercise a week (mostly by walking both outside and on the treadmill) in addition to eating correctly.
I use www.calorieking.com to measure my food and whatever I can't count for a serving size (like slices of bread) I weigh in grams to make sure I'm getting the right serving.
I got myself back to 240 as of Friday, so I'm hoping this week I can finally break the barrier and start losing again and venture into new territory weight loss wise.

It is nice to get a map from someone. It used to be easy for me to loose weight, but it has been hard for the past 3 years.
Right now I weigh 215, but I really do not trust my scale and think that I weigh more than I do per scale reading.
I went shopping for clothes last Saturday since my pants are falling off... I was so depressed. I am still in the plus size section and it sucks to see that I can not wear average size clothes. It is funny because the friend I was shopping with would alway wear clothes that were bigger than my size. Now it is the other way around. She is shopping for size 14 like usual and I am shopping plus size... I never wore plus size until the last couple years.
I wish I was skinny again and even when I was skinny I thought I was fat. I was 115 pounds and thought I was fat. Never win... LOL!
