I just found out today that I may have PCOS after an ultrasound and bloodwork. The Dr. said she would officialy dx until the bloodwork results come back. It is amazing how much I can relate to people posting that I have never met. I am married to a wonderful and loving man, yet I have never really felt very good about myself. Why is it that people treat you like you want to be over weight and that its a lifestyle choice? I am really greatful for this site to answer all my questions. For the first time it feels like I can gain control of what are actually symtoms and not my self-indulgence or lack of control. I can actually do something about this. My dr is great and I fell optimistic for the first time in a long time about my future.
Just found this board today. I've been diagnoised 2 years ago with PCOS. And the ob/gyno just said "you have pcos, your hormones are unbalanced, and I'm going to put you on birthcontrol." ...thats pretty much it. I was and still am confused. This board is helping me a lot.
I didn't read through all the posts so I'm unsure if anyone else mentioned this. Sorry if it's already posted!
I had been keeping track of my irregular periods for around 2 years before I went to the dr. I brought along the information of when those periods were and how many days were in between them. My dr. found the info helpful.
I also use mymonthlycycles.com to track my periods. Great free site.
Thanks for all the information! I will be taking some of it back to my next appointment.
I have only been diagnosed since September of 2008, but as I look back, the symptoms have been there for years. This is a great site. Keep the good and useful info coming!
Thanks for the helpful information...I went to a Endocrinologist and all she told me was to lose weight. I am now seeing a new Gyn. and she seems to be wonderful. I had other problems with my cervix and she fixed it up. Now we are working on TTC. I will definately be asking her alot of questions the next time I see her. Thank you so much for the info
That did help a lot...I'm on 50mg of Clomphene, and they're worried about my weight and blood pressure, I've had a diabetes test already but everything is normal, I'm worried... I've been working out for a while now and I've been watching what I eat...but I'm keeping my fingers crossed...I need to OVULATE!!!!
