Default Prescription costs!!

Okay, I am just curious about how much everyone is paying for their meds. I feel like I spend a lot of money on this. This is all monthly.

Yasmin $35 with insurance
Metformin $10 with insurance
Synthroid $15 with insurance
Micardis HCT (blood pressure) $35
Spironolactone $15

I don't mind they seem to be helping, but I find it frustrating that the BCP is one of the most expensive!!! Seems to me that they would want these to be widely available and affordable to everyone!! Anyone else have any thoughts on the costs of our drugs? As I said I am just curious if we all pay around the same.

Thanks Cysters!!

Wow! You do pay a lot for your prescriptions every month - and that's with insurance.. I totally agree with you on the price of BCP's... They should be more affordable and available to any woman who may want them.

I pay very little for my metformin - under $5.00 for three months. But I have a very good drug plan at work- that and I live in Canada. What a business the pharmaceutical industry is... they have us right where it hurts, because when you need meds you need them.

I pay full price for my prescriptions when i get them...

metformin $60/ 3 months
synthroid $12/month
Paxil $36/month
Chlomid $60/month

But...i get EVERY cent of it back. So in the end i really pay nothing, its all covered under my DF's health plan.

I totally understand your frustration! It sounds as if your insurance plan is better that mine as here are my costs:
fortamet(metformin) $40
synthroid $20
advair $40
doxycycline $40
albuterol $20
HCTZ $10

Holy crap- thats $170 a month!! My list makes me look like I am 70 years old! That number is going to be much higher is I have to start on clomid or other stuff- my insurance doesn't cover any of that!

I take Nexium, and before I got insurance it was $144 every month. Now it's $35. If that isn't a rip-off, I don't know what is!

My Singulair is $50, and my Zyrtec is also $50 with insurance. I used to take Relpax for migraines, and 12 pills were $220 without insurance! They were worth it, though, they helped a lot.

I am Met and pay $10 as well. My real costs are with my acne meds, which total around $150 every three months, which is why I have to live at home during grad school...

Thanks ladies for sharing!!! It is amazing what we pay. I feel fortunate that I can afford it. I do feel like the drugs are working but just feel that the drug companies have us over a barrel. I wonder what viagra costs?

Would be interesting to see how that compares to our bcp!!! Y

You ladies are great!!!

ugh... of the top of my head i don't know how much i'm spending monthly on my meds. approximate costs are:

metformin: $15
spiro: $70
clonopin: $30
zonegran: $70+ (we're still adjusting the dose on that one!)
diane-35: $25-ish
prozac: $25
protonix: $100?

plus my xanax, claritin, mvi and any otc's i use. so somewhere around $335? eek! being sick just is no fun...
