Default Prescription for health

Anyone had one of these? The nurse at my new GP surgery suggested it.

Now on Avandamet, which is a wonder drug. Can't recommend it highly enough. Ask your doctor for it if you're worried about Metformin side effects.

I also have ME, hence the "tired" user name.

Contemplating hysterectomy but have to lose weight first.

To be honest I wasnt sure what you meant by a 'Prescription for health' so I did a google search and it came back with this link:

http://www.prescriptionforhealth.org/

Providing I am on the right track with my understanding of what you mean, I actually feel that its a good idea.... promoting good health will have that knock-on effect in our daily lives... especially medically speaking.

Of course we all know whats right and whats wrong but by getting a prescription for health I feel that with the right support certain individuals will suceed in their quest for better health. So many people struggle with giving up smoking, dieting, alchoholism etc that with better support within the community it would mean more would succeed long-term.

I gave up smoking last November (after 12 years) with great support from my G.P - needless to say my success has been achieved greatly on the basis of this support.

Sometimes our own motivation isn't enough, even if we're the ones getting the benefits. Medication isn't always the best way to go where PCOS is concerned. A lot of the problems that come from PCOS can be managed with a balanced diet, exercise, smoking cessation etc so therefore I guess that in the eyes of the Health Authority promoting better general behaviours will result in lowering medication intake and less overall spending so in theory we all win.

Well thats my opinion anyway, I wish you the best of luck and that you have a healthy outcome to what your doctor has prescribed.

well the way it was described to me was basically subsidised gym membership and one-to-one training to help reach weight loss goals. gym membership on the nhs sounded good to me!

i haven't started it just yet. only finished a 5-week af on saturday, so i'm giving my body a bit of a rest!
