Default prescription medications in India.

I live in asia and have a prescription for and have been getting flutamide in Thailand. However due the very tenuous political situation in Thailand at the moment I cannot go there to get it refilled. Flutamide is not available in the country I am living in or any of the surrounding countries. I have heard of people who go to India to get prescription medications. Does anyone have experience with this? Is it safe? Again, i have a prescription I am not looking to get the medication without it, it's just that at the moment I can't exactly go to Thailand for my prescription.
My last resort is to use my embassy to have it shipped in from the states and that is unfathomably expensive.
