Default private fertility treatments in UK (London)?

My colleague who's PCOS and has been TTC for over 6 years is putting up with nightmare waiting lists with NHS in London...

I am wondering if anyone in UK had gone private for fertility treatment...
how much would be a cycle with Clomid, HCG shots, IUI, IVF, etc cost?

Would really love to hear anyone's experience with private treatment in UK...

hi i know there are a few clinics in london with good reputation but i also think they are more expensive, argc clinic and barts or st barts (not sure) are 2 that ive heard about. Im in scotland and its about £ 3 and half thous for ivf, think injections and iui are around £1 thous, i breifly looked into it but the prices were quite high so ive stuck with the nhs so far although im considering private ivf in the future

Hi i`m having private fertility treatment but at the proiry hospital Birmingham not in London. For a clomid cycle with IUI it costs £500. If you have injections aswell it`s the same price plus the cost of the injections which are around £20 each. I`m now having IVF which is costing £2500 which is including all drugs. I am on the lowest drugs package though. Hope this helps.

This is actually quite a good thread. My husband and I have been thinking about this recently as we are sick of the treatment (or lack thereof) on the NHS. It's just that we know if we pay to go private then we can't come back to have anything done on the NHS. It's been ongoing for us for about 4 years now. We don't know of where to even begin looking! So people's advice or stories are great to hear about!

Dear All,

I am private with a wonderful and I mean wonderful Consultant in London. I have written about my experiences on various posts previously. I go to the London Endocrine Clinic (Wimpole Street) , and I got their details on (www.diagnosemefirst.co.uk). At this clinic they have a PCOS programme run by the marveollus professor Navid Farid.
This man is a gem, he really is.
He works out an individual programme based on your needs, symptoms and goals and you will also see a dietican. I have the truly wonderful Dalene Rottier. She also works out an individual diet programme for you to follow. These two individuals have changed my life.
I have been a patient there for nearly a year now and my life has transformed, I am abit emotional writing this. My skin is better, my mood has lifted, I have come off dianette, lost a stone (still have about 6kg to go) and best of all I am finally after years of distress on the NHS being treated like a human being. I know I sound like a walking advert but like so many of you, I have been to so many places with no help. After years of frustration I have finally met people with knowledge, understanding and empathy.
I have not yet started ttc as I wanted my body to be properly prepared first (ie loose the weight) but having seen these two, I am confident for the first time that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
They are both specialists in PCOS, they understand and they CARE.
Google Navid Farid, Dalene Rottier, Diagnose me first and London Endocrine Clinic and you can read up on the facts before making an appointment.
Yes- It is private, it does cost money. But it is the best money I have ever spent, and I mean it from the bottom of my heart. Feel free to PM me for more info.
All the best, dont give up

Hi

My partner and I have been patients at the ACU (Assisted Conception Unit) on Grays Inn Road, London. We've always got good advice (they aren't out to push stuff on you just to get your money) and are treated as individuals and not just statistics. Highly recommend them

I have just been back from another appointment with Prof Farid today. This man is a true gem. I stoped Dianette in June and have since had regular periods every month, this is nothing short of a miracle. I have lost 9kg (have another 5 to go) and I feel great. I know that alot of women go and see him even when they are pregnant as his treatments extends to avoid miscarriage and ensure that you and the baby have a safe pregnancy. Also went to see my Dietician Dalene Rottier (same clinic) and I had lost another 5pounds in 3 wks. She has now tweaked my food plan a little to keep me motivated.
Prof Farid said today, we view our patients like extended family, perhaps that explains their attitude. I am taking my 17 yrs old sister to see him in Dec. I just know she has got PCOS and I do not want her to go through all the heart ache I have for years and years.
