Default ProActiv and Pregnancy

Is it safe to use ProActiv during pregnancy?
Would can one use for acne while pregnant?

SafeFetus.com lists benzoyl peroxide (the active ingredient in ProActiv) as a "C class drug", meaning studies have shown potential harm to a fetus, though the drug hasn't actually been tested on humans--they are making this assumption based on animal research. So, I've stayed away from using it, just to be safe.

BabyCenter says that salicylic acid is safe when used in washes, so I've been using either a Clearasil facial wash or St. Ives medicated apricot scrub, both with 2 percent salicylic acid. I don't use anything that I would leave on my face--lotions, treatments, etc--only things that can be washed off so it doesn't have a long time to "sink in" to my skin. I have no basis for this rule, I just made it up! lol

You could also try natural remedies, like tea tree oil or witch hazel, or Burt's Bees makes a parsley blemish stick that can be helpful. I've found that their Lemon Poppyseed Cleanser keeps my face relatively clear, too.

Good luck! Let us know what works!

Thanks, RoaryKennedy. Very cool. I'll have to check out the Burt's Bees stuff. I stopped using ProActiv right away when I found out it was considered a medication. I wish there was a warning or something. I hope everything's ok.
