For those of you who have discovered the benefits of Probiotics..
1) What are you taking them for?
2) What are you taking specifically? Where do you purchase them from? Are they costly?
3) How are you taking them? With meals or not.. With other medications or not...
4) How long did it take for you to see any benefits?
and if I were to add this to my regimen, how would I do this if I am taking Metformin... baby aspirin.. prenatals... folgard... calcium caltrate... in terms of interactions with eachother and foods...
I am REALLY interested in adding these to my regimen.... Thanks in advance to anyone who may be able to help!!!!
Hello, I am surprised nobody replied..everyone should take probiotic supplements! I am very much an enthusiast and swear by them for helping a lot of problems I've had.
1) I originally started to take them to help severe IBS, GERD and digestion problems. It took probably 3 solid months of them in my system to feel a difference. Now I don't need to take antacids as much.
2) I have taken many different kinds, but the best I found are Pearls, Biobeads, Jarrow Dophilus and anything enteric coated. I buy from SwansonVitamins.com or the pearls from walmart. They average about 10 bucks for a month supply.
3) I take first thing in the AM a half an hour before I eat, and sometimes again at night before bed.
4) It all depends on what you are trying to cure, it helps aid against stomach "bugs" and any kind of bad parasitic upsets, along with helping you absorb vitamins and food much better.
I've been taking probiotics off and on
1. I take them now just to support healthy digestive system. I've taken them in the past after courses of antibiotics.
2. I am taking a Garden of Life Primal defense. I wouldn't call it cheap but it is $23 i think for 180 capsules. I only take one usually a day.
3. I usually don't take mine with anything. I usually try to take it separate from my other medications just so things have a better chance of being effective.
My chiropractor originally got me into probiotics after a terrible course of antibiotics. Try to find a herbalist, naturopath or someone like that who might be able to tell you about interactions with other meds. Good Luck!
4. I'm not sure that I see some huge effect on my life. I think of it as vitamins. I take them everyday to stay healthy.
