I'm trying to get insurance. I've been told that my two conditions (PCOS and IC) will make it more expensive. Has anyone else had this issue and, if so, what company did you ultimatly go with? Thanks!
I have Medco I think (we've changed 3 times in 6 months or so). They sent me a letter and said over the phone they refused a bill saying PCOS was preexisting, but they paid it, lol. DH's last employer didnt' take insurance out of his check send in the funds, so we were not insured for at least 2 months and didn't know it. That means that pre-existing conditions of ours are not covered. Still, we don't pay more for my appointments and tests as long as they are general health related, not just PCOS related.

I'm very interested in the answer to this too. I haven't been diagnosed yet, and I'm afraid once I am I'm going to be stuck in my job and my current insurance because it will be a pre-existing condition any where else. I like my job... but I don't want to be stuck there because I have insurance... ugh.

There are a LOT of factors that will ultimately affect your rate: age, weight, smoking, previous medical care, city/state, etc...

Thanks for the input ladies! I finally recieved an approval letter from BCBS...but it came with a 2 year Ryder that they won't pay for PCOS related issues. Not great, but better then nothing. -Robyn
I live in NZ and the moment I had thoughts that I may have reproduction/endocrine issues of endometriosis or PCOS I got onto Healthare insurance right away (Southern Cross) anyways they accepted my application and I am paying monthly. I was afraid that if these conditions were already pre existing then I wouldnt be covered?? So I basically lied as I knew I had these issues but didnt write them on the application, just hadnt had confirmation from the doc yet.
Has anyone had issues not being able to claim when going to be treated for PCOS or endometriosis?? even though you had insurance??

If your doctor is willing to work with you, many so-called 'pcos treatments' will be covered, as long as your doctor puts down some other code.
TTC treatments might be hard, but just about everything else can be called something OTHER than 'pcos-related' treatment.
