Default problems with prometrium

I have not had a period in quite some time, so the doctor prescribed prometrium to get this started. Well I took the meds for 12 days, and then yesterday I only had a little bit of brown stuff, but that's it, then nothing today. How long does it take for this stuff to work? The doctor wants me to come in for an ultrasound on cd 5 to make sure everything looks okay, but I'm not sure whether to call and schedule yet, because I don't know if that was day 1 or not. What happens if this does not bring on a period? Are there other meds to try? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Well, have you got AF yet? I was reading through old post and I found yours.I take prometrium every month and I love it! I wish I could take it all month long.It does take a day or so for me to get started once I finish my 10 day cycle, then in 2 days I usually start to spot and then it starts to get a little heavier!(sorry if I am giving TMI) but other than that.......Good Luck! Best WIshes!

Thanks for responding. No I have not started a full AF. All I did was spot for 4 days. So the doc wants to try again next month with the prometrium. Hopefully next month will work. But who knows.

Default Newly on Prometrium

I started taking Prometrium last month. The reason the doctor gave it to me is because I had spotted basically for about 6 months straight. The Prometrium made me stop bleeding for a change. Of course, taking it for 10 days, on the 12th day, I started again and on days 3-5 I wasn't sure if there would be anything left in me. I had the heaviest flow I have ever had, even during the night. I had to get up every hour to 2 hours on day 3. It was horrible. The doctor told me to expect heavy flow and heavy cramps. I had both. If I remember correctly, some time ago, I was given Provera to help me start a period because I hadn't had one in a long time. If your Prometrium doesn't work this month, I would ask about the differences between the two and if the Provera might work for you.

Well,Provera may work for you b/c I think it has got something else in it unlike prometrium which is all natural. Provera made me very moody and cranky. Provera must be stronger. Best wishes and I hope you feel better soon!

Prometrium worked for me... Although it took AF about 4 days to arrive... The pharmacist told me it could take anywhere from 2-5 days after... I have also read in some places that it can take up to 7 days for AF to come...

Hope it's working for ya now...
Good Luck

I think the very first time I took prometrium it took longer than 2 days for me to start,I guess my body was building up.I don't know.I remember posting and asking what was taking so long?It felt like 2 weeks later....LOL! But now I am like clock work with it! I forgot to add that I started out only at 200mgs for 7 days and then my dr increased to 200 mgs for 10 days. I wasn't really "bleeding" just taking it 7 days,KWIM? I would just spot a little. It was like I wasn't really having AF. But for some reason,3 more days makes a difference. Maybe it will help regulate your cycles for you!

Default Prometrium

Hello There.. I recently got diagnosed with PCOS and haven't had a period in some time. I am currently going to Infertilty clinic and trying to get help to conceive. My Doctor had perscribed me the Prometirum Pill. I havent taken it yet as they told me not to take until i know for sure my period isnt going to come on its own this month. Im going to start it on the 15th. Im very scared to take it as I don't know what to expect.. When i was getting my periods.. they were heavy..and Im worried with this pill, it will cause an even heavier flow..and I heard it causes Lots of Facial hair?? and weight gain? Im really nervous. LOL! Also, my perscription is 100 mg for 10 days... How long after I start taking this pill should I expect to have a period? Or do I get a period while Im taking this Pill? Any information is appreciated.. thanks so much! =)

Nikki

Nikki-Terrell,
I just finished a 10 day course of Prometrium and the doctor told me it could take up to 7 days after finishing it to get a period. I don't know much else about it but I didn't have any side effects while taking it. Good luck!
