I have been on Met since Nov 2004. I had always gotten my meds from Walgreens. Recently I decided to get them through my insurance company because it will save me some money.

I didnt realize it, but there are apparently different manufacturers for Met. I didnt think it would be any problem, since it is supposed to be the same med I thought. Well, I am going through the same problems like when I first started where I am getting all the side affects that I havent gotten for a few months.

Had anyone else experienced this? I am concerned that maybe my body wont adjust well to the new brand.

You know I thought that it was just me that this happend to. I go to Walgreens also and I got a new refill this weekend and I have been having tummy tuburulance, it is a different brand than before. I haven't changed anything about my diet either.
Thanks for asking this, maybe someone has an answer.

All of the Metformin preparations have the same active ingredient; it's the inactive ingredients and binders that differ, and sometimes those can cause side effects that others don't.

Other meds: Verapamil and Altace(for blood pressure)

This is so frustrating!

I am getting sick multiple times a day, just like when I first started Met. So I decided to do the step up thing again and went back down to 1 pill a day. I start school again in 3 weeks, so I just hope I am feeling better by then!

I wish I had known this before I switched, so heres letting others know not to switch! haha!
