Default problems with tweezing

hi, i was just wondering if any had any tweezing tips, i need to tweeze my chin and the hairs have gotten really course, they are hard to pull out and im left all blotchy and red, it looks really really bad at the moment. i tried putting e45 on it to try and moisturise it but this dosent work, is there any creams or concealers to help with this? any tweezing tips? i exfoilate in the shower then try tweezing before putting on my normal moistuirser, this is really affecting my confidance, i was supossed to go to the hairdressers as i was going to go for a neck length cut but i had second thoughts as i was embarrsssed to go out like this and also incase my new haircut made it look even more noticeable.
im not at the razor stage as i have lots of peach fuzz, mostly light with dark strays which im trying not to make worse
i cant take spiro or laser hair removal as im on fertilty meds
this is really making me feel down, the rest of my body i can try to keep under control but my face is always on show so its a lot harder

any advice apprechiated
pina colada xx

Pina Colada~~I'm sorry you are struggling with all this & IF issues too. I am right there with you. I swear I could pluck every other day. Yuck! I wish I had some advice for you but unfortunatly I am still looking for some myself.

Lots of luck with everything!

Once the hairs begin to get coarse they can reach a stage when they're really too tough to pull out. It's at that stage that shaving becomes the most viable option. The least irritant way of shaving or otherwise getting rid of facial hair is using a Norelco electric razor from the men's range -- really as near irritant-free as you'll ever find in terms of removing hair.

Have you considered waxing? I use Surgi-wax Brazilian. It seems to work on the coarse hairs as well as the peach fuzz. Plus there are no strips. Just put on, let harden, and pull.

I have tried waxing too but I just end up with red patches & then I break out wherever I waxed. It is strange!

I know exactly what you guys are going through. I had the horrible ingrown hairs from plucking my chin before getting pregnant. I finally went to laser, and it was a tremendous help, but while pregnant, I couldn't get laser. As soon as I delivered, I went straight to the laser clinic, and things are better now. During pregnancy, I shaved at first. As it got worse, I felt (though the few people I told always said they didn't notice anything) I had the black dots and 5 o'clock shadow, so I resolved to pluck. This took forever since there were so many. Then, I bought an epilator. This caused ingrown hairs, which I tried to cover with foundation and a hairstyle that was in my face. I was always self-conscious, but the people I told said they never noticed anything. I know it's hard. I hope things get better. Good luck with everything!!!

I agree with just tweezing. Some get hard to get out, but I just yank on em till I get em ( and hope DH doesn't walk in and see me )

This sounds like my life - especially with hoping that DH doesn't walk in! Leah you have had lazer hair removal. Did you need to grow the hair out first before going for the treatment? This idea puts me off going in and getting it done as I won't go to work with hair on my chin. Did the hair get removed permanently or not. Please let me know as I want to go for laser removal.

Chantal,

You do have to stop plucking/tweezing for several months before having laser, but you can shave all you want. Actually, they like to have it all shaved before you go in, as the laser is attracted to the pigment in the hair and they want the laser to go below the surface to the root. So if shaving is enough for you, it is a good idea.

It's hard to say whether the laser hair removal is permanent. I don't think anything is permanent especially with hormones abnormalities. I do think that it is can give significant reduction in hair and that it is worth it. As I stated before, it was working pretty well before getting pregnant, and then with the pregnancy hormones, it got really bad again, but 2 months after having one treatment after delivery (maybe the hormones are calming down), things are going pretty well on my chin. Hope this info helps. Good Luck!!!

I would continue plucking.

Exfoliate your face very well before plucking (avoid using soaps with lotions/oils). This will help bring more of the hair to the surface, thus making it easier to get a good grasp on it.

You should pick up a special mirror for plucking, too. It has a high magnification, (and it's brutally honest ). These are usually sold with the tweezers.

Also make sure you are using a good tweezer! I prefer the finer edged narrow ones. Don't be hesitant to pay a pretty dollar on one either - they are worth it!

All of these tips should help with even the most stubborn of hairs.

Yes! Exfoliation is key. I used an alpha hydroxy lotion to help keep the dead skin cells away and use a Buff-Puff type sponge to exfoliate also.

I use the cheap dish sponges from the dollar stores; the ones with the green scrubing pad on the underside. I find the pad works very well.

Thanks Leah for your advice on laser removal. I think that I'm going to continue plucking for now until I'm over my IVF and see whether I'm successful with that or not. I think that for now I can live with it considering everything else going on in the IVF treatments.....which is a whole lot worse!
