Progesteron cream ?..."breakthru bleeding" or 'spotting'..should I stop using NPC
OK, I first used NPC in April of 05...worked well for me..used 14 days, went off, AF came on 7 days, started back...but tapered off...became pregnant a month 1/2 later...I believe the NPC helped. (subsequently m/c but not due to progesterone)
Ok, now I am starting to use NPC again. I started using it Sunday night, monday morn, monday night, Tues morn, tues night, Wednesday morn....I use 1/4 to 1/2 tsp 2x/day (20mg {or is it 22mg}per 1/4 tsp). I started spotting with brown blood on Tuesday morning...then that turned into cramping...I felt this sharp pain from my left side to my middle (I think that was my ovary, or a cyst on my ovary) now I am cramping like a mad dog, and now it is not really flowing but it is heavy when I wipe...enought to use a pad instead of a pantyliner...
Ok, I know this NPC topic has been talked to death, but I did a search and could not find a definitive answer to my question...should I stop using the cream, or continue with my 14 days and then stop. Also, the last time I tried the NPC the same thing happend and I stopped the cream, then AF didn't really come on, I just spotted a little more and then nothing.
Does it 'hurt' anything to us NPC while menstruating?
Thanks ladies.

All I can tell you is my experience Shandris, as I'm no NPC expert.
I used NPC for three cycles successfully and it worked just as it was supposed to. Then, like you, I started spotting and then outright bleeding. The online support group I belonged to at the time suggested that I keep using it as it would help "stop the bleeding". Well stop it it didn't! By the end of the week I was having a rather heavy AF and I stopped the cream. I bled for a few months straight until I finally got my doctor-phobic butt into the GYN and BCP fixed me right up.
As I said, that was just my experience and perhaps it's an oddity. Won't be the first medical oddity for me! Hopefully the more knowledgeble gals will be in soon to help ya out.
I hope things get better for you soon! ((((hugs))))

well I did a little bit more research on the net....I found more and more sites saying to discontinue NPC if a true menstrual period starts...well she is officially here! And I am still cramping like a mad dog! So DH and I think that it wil be best to stop while AF is here...wait and start up with the cream after AF is gone, he thinks I should wait 14 days from the start of my period, which would be 14 days from Tuesday 12/20/05...and we will BD during that time to see if anything happens. I will test and if BFN then I will start the npc again....but I will only use 1/4 tsp 1x/day instead of 2x/day. I just hope it works again for us this time.
If anyone finds anything different, please let me know. I don't chart, I find it hard to get my temperature early in the morning before doing anything...I always hop out of bed and turn the alarm off...I keep the alarm across the room which makes me get up, otherwise I'll hit the button and go back to sleep. So charting my temps are not always reliable...but I may try to make some changes to see if it will help me at all.
