I have heard several times about people getting a blood draw to see where their progesterone levels are at after O. I have never done this and I am pretty sure that I have a deficiency in this area.
When do they usually test for this?
What are normal levels and are they suppose to rise as the DPO go by?

My RE will test me the day I am supposed to have O'd. I take HCG to trigger and it takes me about 48 hours to release, so they do a Ultrasound then and take my blood. I know I average in the teens just after Oing, but they want it to increase in the next 2 weeks. Some times I get tested one week after Oing to make sure the level is within range. I just got tested at 4W1D pregnant and my progesterone is 38, but my Dr. want's it to be higher than that.
I don't know what the averages are if you aren't with a fertility specialist, as I know the specialists have higher goal numbers.
It is something easily corrected as there are many forms of progesterone that you can supplement with. So I'd encourage you to ask your Dr. about it!

They usually will test 1 week after ovulation. I think you want you progesterone level closer to 20, but mine was just 13.9 when they tested 7 days after ovulation.
I've heard that at 7dpo they like to see your progesterone at 10 or above on a non-medicated cycle, and 15 or above on a medicated cycle.

My specialist test at 7 DPO and likes to see higher than 15. If it's lower than that I will get progesterone tablets that are used vaginally. EWWW.

Mine was always tested on CD21 to see if I O'd. When I tested this last time my level was 34. A week later I found out I was pregnant. My P4 has risen to 46, then 3 days later to 49, then a week later it is at 39 and everything is still going ok so far.
P4 is usually drawn 7dpo. And it depends on different things as far as what it determines.
It it usually used to determine whether you are ovulating or not. Anything over 5 signals some sort of ovulatory activity, but most docs won't confirm ovulation by P4 without levels being over 10 in an unmedicated cycle. And if you have levels under 10, without really KNOWING you in fact ovulated completely, progesterone supplementation won't do anything for you as far as ovulating goes, because its the corpus luteum that's left behind after the egg is released that secretes progesterone. So if you didn't release an egg, or it wasn't mature enough, taking progesterone won't fix that.
BUT if you are on a medicated and monitored cycle, P4 is used to determine progesterone deficiency. Because with monitoring, and charting, you know a good percentage of the time that you did in fact ovulate especially if you get a trigger shot. So if your levels are super low, your doctor will probably put you on progesterone support.
