Question Progesterone Cream?

I'm just curious as to how many people out there use this.

I just started three days ago using the GNC brand progesterone cream and I'm, to say the least, amazed so far. I've been taking metformin for months now with no results. I haven't had a period in months. I did have my last period with the aid or Provera, but that was months ago and I didn't want to take it again. So anyway, I was told by a friend that her Mom used progesterone cream, so I thought, what the heck, might as well try it. The very first day I used it, I started having a brown colored discharge (TMI I know), second day, a little more and now today, I'm having what seems to be the beginning of a light period. I'm AMAZED! Is this the amazing thing I've been waiting for?

Anyone else have stories about progesterone? This is just a cream I'm putting on my skin. It says on any soft portion so I've been applying 1/4-1/2 tspn twice a day to my hands and inner forearms..

Any down sides to this? Any help is appreciated..

I've used Progesterone cream for quite a while with great results. Here is a thread New & Improved NPC (Natural Progesterone Cream) Info! with a lot of us using it. It has a lot of great info compiled by many cysters. I'm glad it has been working for you! It's a much better alternative for me than Provera or Prometrium. I had bad reactions to both of those, and with progesterone cream, I don't. I have a regular cycle while using it and feel much better than when I used provera. I haven't noticed any downside to using the cream, either.

I used progesterone cream at one time, but it didn't do anything for me. Then I found out that one of the ingredients in the cream that I was using is a substance that mimics estrogen!!!
Parabens are used as preservatives, but they mimic estrogen. Estrogen is the hormone opposite of progesterone. So it is best to check the list of ingredients to make sure the progesterone cream you are about to purchase doesn't have any parabens (methylparaben, propylparaben, etc.)
(parabens have also been found in human breast cancer tissue, so it might increase the risk of breast cancer)

Unhappy

Hey thanks for that heads up.. I checked the cream I have and it has BOTH methylparaben and Propylparaben.. I hate to stop using it because it seems to be working, but I also don't need to up my risk for breast cancer since my Mom had it.. I need to hop over to that other thread to find a kind that's right for me... I went on the recommendation from the GNC employee.. She suggested their brand because it was "all natural"

Thank you SO much for this warning. I think all Cysters using NPC should be aware of this!!!

Also, where exactly do you put the cream on?? I have to go pick up some, but I was wondering, where do you rub it into? I have a lot of pelvic pain and was recommended the NPC, and no AF and tons of cyst problems (ovaries). Thanks.

When I was using it, I was putting it mostly on my hands and inner forearm, but I've read several places to put it on your breasts. I'm going to pick up a new brand soon because now that I've stopped using the cream, my body stopped everything it was doing.

I use Pro-Gest from emerita, and it comes in a paraben-free formula.
