Default progesterone cream?

I did some research online and I saw that natural progesterone cream is supposed to help with pms like symptoms ( bloating, back pain ect....) I asked my Dr. if I should use it and she said yes, and it should help regulate my period. I am scared to try it because when I was on BCP they made my hair fall out and I had to stop taking them. Has anyone ever used this cream? or heard about it.

I've used it off and on since 1998. I've found it to be quite successful.

Different brands have affected me different ways. I am currently purchasing it from my Traditional Chinese Medical doctor. Some brands are more potent than others, and I've had to adjust my dose. (One brand made me weepy and bloaty, which in a way tells me it was working, but on the other hand wan't a fun situation either.)

I've never been on Birth Control, so I can't comment on the difference in how I feel versus the BCPs. It does keep my period regulated, however. I'm back on the cream right now as we are trying to lower my DHEAs even farther. I am having new tests this week, so we'll see if it is working.

Best,
Cassy

Default Is progesterone the answer?

Hi there! I am relatively new to the idea of Progesterone, but I recently heard about using it to treat PCOS on my local news. I have done some research on it and found a website www.mercola.com/1999/archive/pcos.htm that is written by a doctor about Progesterone and PCOS. I have also found many more websites that say the same thing that he does. It says that Progesterone can be used to treat PCOS and that there is a chance that using it may completely get rid of the symptoms! Of course it doesn't work for everyone, but if there is a chance at all... I am going to give it a try! It says that it takes about 6 months to fully have the effect, but you can see a difference in as little as 2 months. After you achieve the hormonal balance, you can start to ween off of it, and sometimes you never have to use it again! I see my doctor today and I am going to ask him to put me on the cream, so I will keep you up to date on if it works for me or not! Good luck to you!

It actually turns out that the doctor that I went to see is not familiar with using progesterone cream as a treatment. I gave him the article to read and he said that it seems to be a good idea but since he had not prescribed it before, he was not real comfortable doing it now. He told me to go see my gynocologist and see if she would put me on it, but I have not made it to see her yet. I am really thinking about trying a brand that is not a prescription since there are many out there, but I would really feel more comfortable with a doctor's blessing.

Just for yor peace of mind, you do not need a perscription for progestrone cream. You can buy it at a vitimin store.

Default Is it as safe?

I have seen several places online that you can buy progesterone cream, but is the quality as good as if I had a prescription and bought it from a pharmacy?

Hi Girls I bought mine from online called Emerita, it is paraben free which I feel may be better as paraben is used as a xenoestrogen in the body and we do not need the extra estrogen right!

I wanted to ask, do I use it from day 14 or from ovulation to menstruation? I do not ovulate on day 14! more likely day 20 onwards if I have been extra good with low carbing. Frustrating!

I have yet to use the progesterone cream, but I have done alot of research on it and how to use it and such. The website http://allonhealth.com/natural-proge...ed-balance.htm shows how to adjust to the schedule of your cycle. I think it may be useful for you. I would also like to know how it works for you if this is your first time, or how it has worked for you if you have been using it for awhile!

Hello All . I have noticed that since I started using the cream about 2 weeks ago, my hair seems to be thinning alot more. I don't understand why. When my Dr. put me on BCP for symptoms and my hair did the same thing, so I had to stop taking it and now my hair is falling out because of the cream. Should I stop? I don't know why something that is supposed to help with symptoms makes them worse. My hair was just starting to get back to normal after the BCP and now it's worse than before.

You may want to have your homone levels checked by a doc to make sure you are on the right track. Some women with PCOS have sufficient progesterone, so it's important to make sure you are doing what you need to keep in balance.

Even if you work with a natural practitioner, you can have these numbers checked. THey make both salivary, blood and blood spot testing.

I used the cream for a few years, then stopped, and then started again when my symptoms changed recently. My TCM tests my progesterone levels, however.

To the question from Pearl1981, I use it from the day of my ovulation starting till the day of my period. Basically, since i bleed every 4.5 to 5 weeks, I use it from the end of week three till the day I start. Thats the recommendation of my doctor, but the manufacturers also suggest that for women of menstruating age, that's the right mix. The thing is, it has a lot to do with what your horomone levels are, so again, best to get a check out to be sure.

Oh~ I've used the Emerita version too, back in 98. Currently I use a mycelated measured version from my TCM which gives 20 mg progesterone per pump. But I used to buy a different one that you just scooped up some on your finger.

They make a pure product that you put in your mouth, but that one you have to order online. Perhaps someone on this thread knows the one I speak of. It's mentioned in Dr. John Lee's book.

Thanks Cassy for your advice. I will start using from ovulation. I had a progesterone test and it was 39 on 7 days post ovulation. Its supposed to be around 55 or something? It did show that I ovulated, as the cut off is 30, but its so low.

You can only tell with trying things out till you find the right balance for you.

I am taking D Chiro Inositol and have lost 7lbs without diet and no longer fall asleep after eating food. I also drink cinnamon which has helped lots.

I have a question. I just started using the cream and it says to use it after ovulation for 14 days. What if I get pg in that time. Will this hurt anything?
