Congrats!

Points: 999.14 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 999.14 | Dr. Hilgers sometimes supplements right up to delivery Please ask your doctor to continue to check your progesterone levels regularly and watch to see if they drop, especially as you go off the progesterone. If they suddenly drop, you need to start supplementing again... That is Dr. Hilger's protocol, and he is the most careful doctor that many people that I've talked to have ever heard of. Doctor's criticize him for being too careful but he doesn't have premies and his miscarriage rate is below all the other doctor's. There is no harm is supplementing right up to 38 weeks as some women I know have done so with I.M. injections ordered by Dr. Hilger's and physicians trained in Dr. Hilger's careful techniques. If you'd have bleeding, if I were you, I'd definitely get your level's checked and make sure they are high enough (not minimally high enough) to sustain your pregnancy. Let's face it, it's hard enough for most of us to get pregnant! You don't want to take chances. Annemarie raydians@sympatico.ca |

My Mood: Points: 705.40 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 705.40 | Okay, so my progesterone is 60 and my hcg is 6914.0. Doctor said that this is great. Here's a question. When you have more than one baby does that make your levels go higher or does it really make a difference?

I plan on giving my doctor a call tomorrow to ask about getting a blood test to test my current levels and the possibility of staying on the progesterone longer. I actually still have about a week left of the current prescription and another refill available if need be. Since the miscarriage in January, I feel like I should try to do whatever I can to ensure a healthy pregnancy and delivery.

I spoke with the ladies that have Dr. Hilgers and one of them was telling me that even with supplementing, one of the ladies P. started to nosedive at a later stage, like at about 20 weeks or so and because the doctor was monitoring, he caught it and gave her I.M. injections and likely saved her pregancy. Be careful, and don't just assume that if your levels are okay now that they will remain okay, esp. if you've already had a miscarriage. I don't say this to scare you but rather to help you save the pregancy if there is a problem. Natural progesterone won't hurt anyway. Apparently Dr. Hilgers seems to think the the second half of preg. is safer because the placenta is doing alot more of the work in producing the progesterone, but he still supplements right to 38 weeks and sometimes again after delivery to prevent post partum depression... SO DON'T BE WORRIED ABOUT SUPPLEMENTING! I'd be more worried about going off, esp. because you're stopping something that you're already doing.
I'll say a prayer for you and I hope that it all works out well.

My Mood: Points: 4,470.85 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 4,470.85 | Hi everyone, I am confused. I am ttc and I started using 'NatPro' two days ago, 2 days after I ovulated. My research says to use half a teaspoon twice a day. However, I keep reading that the dose should be 20 mg per day, which seems awfully high.
I've read using too much can throw all the other hormones out. Can anyone help on dosage please?
Many thanks

My Mood: Points: 1,044.15 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,044.15 | progesterone lozenges I just had a chemical pregnancy and was supplementing with lozenges 200mg twice a day. My initial P4 was 7.9 so my RE upped my dose to 3x a day. My next level was 8.9 and then my last one today was 9. I TTC 5 years ago and my RE at the time had me use suppositories and my P4 was always over 20. Are the lozenges as effective as the suppositories? I keep asking my RE this, but his answer is that my progesterone levels never rose because my betas weren't doubling. Any thoughts?

My Mood: Points: 2,698.74 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 2,698.74 | Help! I did a PT on Friday and it was positive. Yesterday (Monday) I got my blood work done and they are saying it's a chemical pregnancy because my progesterone is 8.8 and yesterday I was 16 days after ovulation, so it should be higher. I go in tomorrow for a second blood test to see if it has gone up. My question is, can I start using the progesterone cream now? I still feel pregnant, haven't had any spotting, only slight cramping and I am exhausted, so I was thinking that if I went and bought some today it might help out with this pregnancy. I don't believe it is a chemical pregnancy because I would have m/c by now, or at least I don't want to believe... My husband and I have been trying for over a year and Friday was just so amazing, and yesterday was so heart wrenching.
Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated. |

I have had 3 pregnancies and each my progesterone was lower than an 8. I believe with my twins it was like a 6 a week after my IUI. Was the 8 your progesterone level or your HCG level? I doubt if it was an HCG level an 8 would have even registered positive on a PT.

My Mood: Points: 2,698.74 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 2,698.74 | The 8.8 was my progesterone. I'm hopeful after hearing that with your twins you were at 6. I have been doing Metformin and this is my second month of Clomid. We have kind of been through the wringer, and emotionally I am all over the place. One moment I think I am, the next moment I think that it's just a chemical pregnancy. I don't know what to think right now. I go back in for another blood test tomorrow and I am going to request that I get my hcg and my progesterone numbers. Today is day 17 after ovulation, and I have not spotted or had any indications that my period will start. Plus two pregnancy tests came up positive, so I am keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks for your help. |

Faiths mommy, my understanding is the vaginal suppositories are best, through all of my 6 cycles that I have supplemented with I have always been prescribed vaginal suppositories.

Points: 162.59 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 162.59 | Hello everyone - I am new and thought I would come post
This is a great thread and has a lot of great info
My Doc started me on PIO at 6 weeks for lowish Progesterone I am currently 16 weeks pregnant and my levels are 55 with 2ml twice a week of the PIO
Have read that the placenta is supposed to take over but doc thinks I may be on for the entire pregnancy. I have 3 beautiful girls already with no previous history aside from 1 MC in 05.
I am wondering if it is safe to stay on for the whole pregnancy, what will happen when I reach the 3rd trimester if my levels stay borderline, why would the placenta nottake over?
Doc thinks I may have PCOS due to elevated androgen levels so is PCOS more likely to cause low progesterone.
Thanks
Jo |
