My HCG on Friday was 150 and my Progesterone level was 7.3. I start the progesterone suppositories tomorrow and they will do an ultrasound and blood draw on Thursday just to see where we are. I'm so nervous now.

As long as you are on the suppositories you should be fine. Can you start them today?

Congrats!

Hi everyone! I have been taking the progesterone injections my entire pregnancy so far and now that I am 14 weeks I am supposed to stop. My P4 from a couple of days ago was 26 and my RE said that's high enough to stop the injections. I'm really nervous about stopping them because that number is so much lower than alot of the women I see on the board. It has been over 20 for a few weeks now and supposedly that's what matters. What do you all think? It that high enough at 14 weeks? I have some prometrium pills left over, would it hurt to take them a couple of times a day just to be on the safe side? Or should I listen to the RE?

Default How often to check progesterone?

Hey everyone,

Thanks so much for all of the information about progesterone, which has been very informative. Here's my question:
I've had 2 1st trimester miscarriages, both "missed abortions" (went in for prenatal ultrasound at 8-10 weeks and no fetal heartbeat or normal fetal pole seen). As part of my evaluation for recurrent miscarriage I had a progesterone level checked 7 days after ovulation, and it was 15. From what I'm reading on here, 15 is normal for an natural ovulation (I'm on metformin only). I didn't try to get pregnant that cycle, since I wanted to get the lab results back first. So... does that one normal level mean I'm all set? Or does it fluctuate? Should I ask to get my progesterone re-checked after my next ovulation and/or during early pregnancy once I get pregnant?
Thanks much.

Thanks for the information, Sugarbug. My doctor has given me suppositories to begin tomorrow. My IUI was this past Saturday.

I also had two first trimester m/c. I am so sorry for your loss. With my second I did take Prometrium until my RE said to stop around 9 weeks when my levels were really high. M/c at 11wks 3 days. Do you think I should do injections the next time around? Thanks for any advice

Hi Ladies- I would recommend the injections. My P4 was always about 15 as well, but I honestly think it stopped rising on it's own right about that point. I took the HCG boosters during the 2 week wait, and then started injections right after my BFP. I took them until 14 weeks and I am currently 22 weeks. I'm told that injections don't show up in your bloodwork so I can tell you that my own progesterone didn't rise above 16 until I was about 8 weeks and didn't stay consistently above 20 until after 12 weeks. That proved to me that my progesterone was not great on it's own and I really think the injections help save this pregnancy, along with the lovenox injections. Good luck!

Thank you !!!! everyone...
This is really my 1st time responding to threads. I was always "lurking " for info. Here's my story: 4th M/C.. D&C done yesterday all @ 8-9 weeks. still crying my heart out. This is the 2nd time that I have been taken off or cut down in dose of Prog / Crinone, each resulting in non viable pregnancies. SOOO, DH and I have come to the major conclusion that it is imperative for me to stay on Prog and to not let the Drs. and nurses take me off til at least 13 weeks. QUESTION: Can or should one stay on Prog til due date?? After reading all the posts the answer is so clear to me.... Why is this not to clear to the medical staff !! Believe me, I've heard it all !!! Dr.s said it was most likely a "chromosonal problem" and it would have happened anyway... HOW DO THEY KNOW???? My DH and I brought this up at each apt. during th 7th week til the 10th week. we clearly said that this is our worrisome time, this is when all other pregnancies have gone wrong. Anyway, thanks for not letting me think that I was crazy about the Prog / Crinone coralation.
Another question: Can someone just take the OTC Prog cream as a daily suppliment... because I got to tell ya... I've never felt better that when I'm on Prog, I feel like myself.. I'm not depressed or moody.. I lost 30LBS, granted southbeach helped too. Well thanks for listening. I feel better that I made my own diagnosis..( connecting the dots so to speak ) wish the DRS. could do that.

Wow, I have learned a lot on this thread. I just had a m/c in July (my first) and am ttc again, but am now really nervous about the progesterone issue... I am sure I am very low with progesterone.
Can you just get suppositories over the counter or at a health store?

I also was wondering, I am taking the wild yam herb and read on this thread that wild yam is another form of getting progesterone, would this be enough to help my count through pregnancy? I also read that you should only take it at certain times in your cycle, does anyone know the answers to these questions. Sorry I have some many?

Okay, so I'm in my 14th week of pregnancy and my RE originally prescribed my progesterone vaginal supplements that lasted up until 13 weeks 3 days pregnant. I called my OB/GYN to find out if I need a refill and when I should stop. She said that she wants me on the progesterone until 14 weeks, so I'll be into my 15th week of pregnancy (14 weeks 3 days). Will it cause a miscarriage to stop the progesterone? I'm so nervous about that. I had preterm labor with my dd which began at 32 weeks. I've always felt that I was progesterone deficient even before my dd was born, so I wonder if I'll have a problem going off the progesterone, causing other issues like preterm labor and such? I will ask the OB to draw my blood and check the p4 level. She already plans on doing cervical length checks and a fFN (fetal fibronectin test) for preterm labor around 22 weeks. I just feel like I'm gambling with the health of this pregnancy... Anyone experience something similar?

My Dr. is testing everything BUT progesterone to try and diagnose why I've had three m/s. Is there a way to effectively convince your dr. to do this? Will I just have to holler, or is there a medical study or something she might look at more seriously?
I am at least happy she is checking me for PCOS.
