Default Progesterone to Treat PCOS

So I was finally diagnosed with PCOS last month after having no AF for a year. I've been irregular since I first got my period but a year is just ridiculous. Anywho, my gyn put me on YAZ to regulate, which I was nervous about since I have tried other BCPs that always give me horrible side effects. I gave YAZ a chance anyway and behold the 3rd week was hell. I stopped taking them and my question is has anyone or does anyone get a progesterone shot every couple months to induce AF? I would like to ask my gyn if this is possible instead of all these horrible BCPs.

what were your "horrible" side effects that you got from bcp's? I get migraines just before AF arrives and they were a little better on bcp, but having been off them for a few yrs, my dr decided that I needed to take provera (progesterone rx)...something I will NEVER take again. yeah, it brought on AF, but I had the worst migraine I had had in years, after just the first day on that pill (and another 9 to go). others may do fine on it, and it works great for them, but I won't be taking it again.

maybe you could try it once and see how you do...hopefully, you'll have a better reaction than I did.

I take prometrium (progesterone) to induce AF. I've been using it every 90 or so days since November, and it seems to be working without any side effects. It's worth asking about.

I always seem to get shortness of breath and major depression and I know its not me because im not depressed when I off BCPS. I also have anxiety and BCPs make it 10X worse. I was given Provera about a year ago to induce AF after 9 months of not having one. It worked great and the only side affect was a little dizziness the first day but nothing major. However my new and much better gyn wont prescribe provera... she says its "cheap" lol and she will only give me the shot of pure progesterone. I hoping i could go in every couple of months for the shot Since I have absoulutely no side effects with it!
