Progestins and Allergies Hi - just wondering what types of reactions folks have had to the synthetic progestins. I have a history of Endometriosis and had an unhealthy uterus removed, but still have my ovaries. Something hormonal is going on that is messing me up - my gastro system problems and hormone/Endo problems are somehow connected and I'm having a very difficult time trying to get someone to sort out what is going on. My gastro doctor seems to be doing all he can at the moment, but the gyn part is tough. I was prescribed a synthetic progestin called Norethindrone. In addition to tummy aches, headache, and just plain not feeling myself, I was getting a stinging and pins and needles sensation in my hands and feet that seemed to be progressing up those limbs as the days went by. On the 5th night, I had that stinging on the top of my head and face and it reminded me of when my regular allergies are bothering me. The doctor's say they haven't heard of this reaction, but it stopped after I stopped the pill. I have Celiac and can't have anything with gluten in it and believe I have other problems with soy and corn, probably some others, too, but haven't had the official testing done yet. Just wondering if anyone else has those types of problems and what alternatives there are because there is no way I can take that indefinitely with that type of a reaction. Thanks!
Lisa
