Well, this morning I may have come up against an alarming new side effect.
I've been on Met since December and haven't had too bad a time with side effects. I get diarrhea, but it's tolerable. I've always been sort of loose-bowelled so it isn't that bad to me.
Well, this morning when I got up to get ready for work, I suddenly had a violent bout of honest-to-God projectile vomiting! It took me by surprise! I never even felt nauseated, it was suddenly...I felt like I had to throw up, and then it started. And when it was over, I felt shaky but otherwise okay.
It was horrible. I've never in my life thrown up like that. I'm really glad my roommate is out of town because it must have sounded like I was exploding. It was so forceful that I burst blood vessels all across my face and now my throat is sore.
I'm currently blaming the Doritos I ate last night. I don't know why, but I got a weird craving for them...I haven't eaten them in a long time and I don't actually even LIKE them.
I'm wondering if the longer you're on Met, the more sensitive you become to the kinds of foods you ought to be eating. I've talked on this board about how I no longer crave or find appetizing anything starchy or sweet...last night's craving was a definite anomaly. I mean, this was the kind of puking that was a clear signal of "there's something bad down here that needs to get out NOW." But this happened a good seven hours AFTER I ate the Doritos.
Anyone ever have this happen? Please God, tell me that if I eat properly it won't happen again. It was awful. I felt like I was in "The Exorcist."
That's awful, Lori. Are you sure you don't have a touch of the flu or something? For me, if it is a met side effect it always hits in ~ 2 hours or less, but maybe that's just me.
Feel better, ok?

Unfortunately this happens to me every few months. I know for me, the first time it happened was 2 months before I started the met, so I know that wasn't the culprit. It may not be the met for you either.
I am not sure what the problem is (still trying to see a doctor) but now I'm suspecting acid reflux. I never get heartburn but when I vomit it's nothing but acid. Of course it happens early in the morning (like 4 am) so I dont expect food, so reflux is the only thing I can think of.
