I hae been taking Prometrium now( finished prescription about 2 weeks ago) and still have not gotten AF. Is there a reason for this? Has anyone else taken prometrium and not gotten af?
Just wondering if i should back to the dr's and get a prescription for provera.
Any help would be great.
Thanks,
Shawna

Hi Shawna! When my Ob prescribed Prometrium she told me that AF should arrive with in 2 weeks after I finished the meds. If I had not started with in 14 days for me to give them a call and we'd try something else. So I would suggest giving your doc's office a call tomorrow and let them know you still haven't started.
Good luck!
Stacie

My ob perscribed provera last month ans said af would show 3 days after last pill, but 7 days later still no af. I called him and he said maybe i just needed a higher dosage. i went to wal mart and got progesterone cream and used it and 2 days later af showed. i dont know if it was the cream or if it just took the provera a lil longer.

Sometimes Prometrium does not work and if this is the case, call your Dr. Provera is usually the next drug to try and in most cases this works.

Just wanted to say ty guys I was seaching and seaching the internet to find out info on Proemtrium and how soon after I should be starting my period and found you guys and my answers My OB/GYN put me on it for missed AF's just one though and I had low progesterone when she did the blood work (minus 10)and a thick endrometrial lining.. Well took the pills for 10 days and still no AF so was starting to get a bit worried it's been 5 days since my last pill.
My dose of prometrium had to be adjusted several times before we found the right dose. You may just need a higher dosage for it to work, that was the case with me.
That could be I'm on the 100 mg's right now. I just keep hoping it will hurry and start I keep feeling like I"m going to then it goes away no spotting or nothing ugh lol.

Anything less than 300mg a day didn't work for me. At one time the dose that worked was 600mg, though my Dr. said that was unusual.
I don't know why Dr.'s put people on such low doseages. Those just aren't affective. The company that manufacture's Prometrium even states on their website that in order to bring on a period you need 400 MG a day right before bedtime for 10 days. 100 MG is used when STOPPING bleeding. Don't these Dr's read the drug manufacturer instructions? You might want to ask your Dr. for the right doseage and then AF should come. Good luck to you!
