Prometrium

hi i am new here. I did not know where to start a new thread......so hopefully I can get someone to give me some input on this.
I was just diagnosed with a simple Hyperplasia ( I always had notmal periods except this past 30 days I started spotting and been doing it for 32 days now so I got tested)and my ob wants me to take 200 mg once a day for 14 days Prometrium. I have to do this for 3 month and that will take care of my simple hyperplasia.
I am so afraid of this because I never had to take anything like this. I worry about side effects.

I also have a choice of just doing a D&C and get it taking care of which looks good to me.

What to do???

Any experience with this medication or a d&c would be so appreciated!!

I can't tell you anything about hyperplasia or D and C's.

I have taken prometrium several times and will probably take it again soon. My periods aren't normal at all (97, 107, and currently going on 70-something days) and my gyn has me take it for a few days orally, which starts my period and a new cycle.

I haven't noticed any bad side effects from the prometrium at all. I do take it at night though.

Prometrium is just progesterone which your body makes normally anyways, except with PCOS some of us dont make as much as we should. I take prometrium when I am preg to get me to stop spotting and the only side effect is the bleeding stops

I really dont know of any bad side effects of taking progesterone b/c like I said its naturally made in our bodies.

I never took it for hyperplasia, but D&C can cause problems for preg if thats a plan later on. Sometimes it can lead to premature labor or incompentant cervix, so if you plan on having kids in the future you should really just take the prometrium. Hope that helps you.
