Default Prometrium and Depression?

So, I had my first visit with the endo last week, and she has me on prometrium to get my period started since I haven't had it for two years now. I am 4 days in, and I am a wreck; very depressed and moody. I have delt with depression related ups and downs since I was little, but it has been worse lately, even before the Prometrium. Now, taking Prometirum has my harmones all out of wack and I really don't like the person I have been lately, so mean and moody. That person isn't me at all, which makes me mad at myself and it becomes an endless cycle. And my period hasn't even started yet. I guess this thread has turned into a vent more than anything, lol, but it would help to know if anybody has had any similar experiences with meds and depression?

Manda- What dose are you on? Provera gives me really bad side effect, including the moodiness and depression. I'm about to start Prometrium, just got the scrip today. I thought it would be 200mg for 10 days, but the instructions say to take 2 which is 400mg! Oy! I hope it doesn't make me feel the same way the Provera does :-p

I was taking 200mg of Prometrium a day for 14 days. I took it for 3 months and felt wonderful while on it.

Saw my doc yesterday and she switched my dosage to 100mg a day all the time. I hope it makes me feel as good as the 200 did. My progesterone was low and it did make me feel super balanced again.

I took prometrium for the first time in June and let me tell you, did I get DEPRESSED. It was horrible. I was suicidal, depressed , hopeless. I hate that stuff, and I will only use if I need it to support a pregnancy, but never to induce af.

I have always taken provera, but my new Dr was really pushing the prometrium because it is a 'natural' form of progesterone. This just goes to show not everything that is considered 'natural' is better.

You need to let your Dr know how your feeling and the side effects your getting so that he can rx something different the next time you need.

I have been on Prometrium twice, each time I took 200mg for 10 days. The first time I was a hormonal B----! I cried at the stupidest things, fought with my husband over anything and everthing and basically hated that was around me...including ME! I feel like the Dr should have giving me some sort of warning that this was going to give me the worse form of PMS I would ever have. Then 12 days after the last pill came AF and the trying cycle started. This second time I took it, I knew what the deal was, my husband knew and it was smooth sailing, no mood swings, no crying, no fighting. I think that what you are going through with your first round of Prometrium is "normal". Hang in there! You will get through this! Do something nice for yourself.

Sandra- Isn't that crazy?? Prometrium makes you feel the way Provera makes me feel. I'm hoping the Prometrium is a little different for me Out of curiosity... what else can they do to induce AF?? Other than these two drugs I mean.

I tried prometrium a few weeks ago, and it made me depressed too! I was only on it for 5 days, but I was crying myself to sleep each night, and was pretty much suicidal

natural progesterone cream. I used to take that, and it never affected my mood.

Provera made me very moody and depressed...I hated it! My dr told me if I do get pregnant he'll put me on prometrium right away to hopefully prevent another miscarriage...but I am scared to death use it! I have heard that using it vaginally you don't have as bad side effects from the prometrium. Does anyone know if thats true?
