Doctor gave me this almost a month ago saying it would bring on a period. Still nothing, is that normal? Anyone else have problems getting a period after taking it?

Are you taking it everyday? If you want to have a period while taking Prometrium, you cannot take it everyday. Usually to bring down a period a doctor will give a certain number of pills to take...12 in our office....and then your period should start either before ending pills or within 3 days after stopping. If wanting to regulate periods, you should be cycling each month with them....we prescribe 200 mg's on the 14-25 day of a cycle. But if you are taking this every day, you won't have a period.
The only thing I would question would be why not a lower dose for a longer amount of time. 200 mg x 12 days would give you a higher level and more of a chance to start a period. It might not have been enough to get you started. Even patients taking for 12 days don't start until usually 3-4 days after the prometrium.
I have no idea about the dosage. It's just what he gave me.
They sent me to the lab for LSH and F something levels as well as HCG tests. I know I'm not pregnant because it would have shown up by now on the home pregnancy tests.
Maybe I should ask him for a longer dosage?

probably an FSH in addition to the LH...Follicle Stimulating Hormone and Leutinizing Hormone. It wouldn't hurt to ask his opinion on it if you could try a longer doseage seeing how the first attempt did not work. I definately would not take 300 mgs for that long of a time, too much progesterone would give you side effects. Good luck!
Well after posting the previous message, I went to look at dosage and administration instructions for Prometrium and it says for secondary amenorrhea take 400 mg for 10 days. Just to specify that is what the company recommends. Personally I would still try to split that dose just to be on the safe side as far as other symptoms!
