Default Prometrium=One sleepy chick!

Does Prometrium make anyone else extremely sleepy? I'm not talking drowsy. I'm talking barely making it to the bed before I fall asleep standing up. Does this mean my dosage is too high? I've never taking it before. I've taken one pill for the last 3 nights with the same reaction.

Post NPC same thing

Hi, I just wanted to say, last month when I started progesterone cream, I had the same problem. I was taking 20 grams of progesterone transdermally twice per day and I was exhausted! The pharmacy said it might make me tired, and it DID! I took one dose at night and one dose around lunch so if I dozed off I was on break anyway. This month actually doesn't seem to be as bad, for some reason. What dose are you on? I'd give it at least a month, and see if it improves...otherwise, just make sure you don't take it and then drive!

LOL Friends don't let friends take progesterone and drive! LOL Oo, I crack myself up today sorry!

Default HA!

LOL That's too funny! I'll have to remember that one.

I take one 200mg capsule a day. I'm glad I took mine in the evening or I would have never made it home from work!!

Thanks for the input!

Me too. This is my 2nd round of Prometrium 200mg for 12 days. I take mine at bedtime, because it makes me dizzy. One night, I could barely make it down the hallway to my room.

So far, it hasn't work to bring on AF. I have an appt on Thursday with a new RE. I can't wait.

I first took Provera and I know I don't like that, but now I am going to take Prometrium next month. What are the major side effects from it? Will I be able to lose weight if I try low carb? I am worried because I just want to lose a little weight because I gained some and I can't seem to get it off. I know it helps me get a period, but does it regulate your hormones to help your body be somewhat normal? To lose weight if you are trying, like a normal person??? Confused

No, Prometrium does not cause you to lose weight. It is used to bring on a cycle. Keep in mind, it is not used for ovulation. The only side effects I experience are dizziness, breast tenderness, and vaginal discharge. Make sure you take it at bedtime. You won't be able to drive.

Good luck.

Post not just me then!

Oh, it's not just me then! I shouldn't have talked about the cream so lightly...second day I took it this month the fatigue & headaches hit like a freight train. *sigh* I don't think there will be a next month for this cream...my problem's with AF staying around too long, not her arrival. I think we're on the same dose--RE said only 10% of pill dose makes it to blood stream so we're all on 20 mg in the blood, it looks like. Well, except me, my doc prescribed 40 per day. Maybe that is too high for me! I, too, have experienced dizziness but thought it was unrelated. *sigh* Now I know, or supsect. I thought only progesTIN was supposed to give headaches & "wooziness!"

I also took mine at bedtime. So I never experienced the sleepiness although I slept good
