Default Prometrium SUCKS!

Okay ladies, I need answers! I got put on Prometrium to induce a period so they can do my testing. I stayed on 200 mg a night for 2 weeks. I have been off for 6 days. NO A.F. and I am in serious pain! My boobs are killing me! I have knots all over in them now, and My nipples feel like someone has gone over and over them with a cheese grater! I may as well be breast feeding an alligator! It is horrible! I am sluggish, and headachy and dizzy. I generally feel like CRAP! Has anyone else dealt with this, and is it really from the Prometrium? Could it be something else completely? Oh, and my pelvic pain went through the roof! I am calling my Dr. back today. She said last time I went in, if this didn't bring on AF then she would up the dosage and add in estrogen. I dont' think I can take it! I am not kidding! I will lose my mind! Oh the humanity! HELLLLPPP MEEEEE!!!!!

My sweetie had a vasectomy almost 5 years ago. I have 4 kiddos, and I am definately not preggers. I wouldn't mind having another baby in some ways, but I am sure I am not. Just can't figure out what my deal is! Thanks for the response.

I have the same problem. I finished my 3rd round of Prometrium last Tuesday and 14 months later... still no period. I am so frustrated. I get the same symptoms. Moody, breast tenderness, dizziness... My next appt is March 22nd.

Hang in there. I know how frustrating it can be.

This is the first drug I've ever had to take and they put me at 400 mg...I made the mistake of taking all 400 at once (it said on the package to take as a single dose) and I was exhausted and dizzy. I could barely make it upstairs to my bedroom and everytime I turned over I would lose my balance. Its awful..and still no AF

Same thing happened to me as far as the increased PMS symptoms, then I finall started although it was only 10 days after I stopped taking the pills, and it was the worst, longest, most heavy period I ever had! PLUS, a week and a half later I got a 2nd period..........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Problem was, the sore boobs, cramps and all that didn't get better after those periods.

It was like fake periods, just bleeding...didn't really release the hormones and make me feel better.

I will never ever ever take that again! I'd rather go without a period!

Oh, by the way, I have started taking "Estroven", which is a found in the supplements/vitamin section of Walmart. It balances hormones naturally. after one box (30 pills, 1/day) I started a period on my own plus I didn't have as bad of PMS symptoms.
I like to share this with people because I had a noticeable difference, and I know how much it sucks to go through this, and I want others to start feeling better too. So, please give Estroven a chance. I never used to "believe in" natural remedies, but now I do after all the bad experiences I have had with prescription medicine.

Prometrium is supposed to be a more natural version of provera

but it never has worked for me either...and it always made me

feel crappy...

I say stick with an even more natural remedy or go with provera

IMHO

Thank for the information on the Estroven. I tried Provera for months too, and it didn't work. Nothing is working.

I'm glad you're feeling better.

Holy Cow! A.F. started, well, sort of, finally. I have been off of it now for 10 days, and I almost went to the emergency room yesterday my cramps were so bad! I have never felt anything like that as far as cramps go! Oh my gosh, I thought everything was going to fall out of me! It has been an ordeal that is for sure. I need to give the estrovan a try. I am really not "on" though. It is weird. I only bled for like a couple of hours and that was it. How very very odd! Well, I will definately look for alternatives....this is no way to live!
