Default Prometrium & Vitex

I've been taking Vitex for 3 weeks now and still no AF. I know that Vitex works differently for everyone. I am currently in a time crunch. DH is currently overseas and is scheduled to come home in early April. I called dr. and he rx Prometrium & Clomid. My question is should I stop taking Vitex while taking the Prometrium or is it okay to take them together. Any ladies who've done this combo please respond. TIA.

I would recommend just stopping the Vitex for now.
If you are going to be taking Prom. and then Clomid... it would be best to stop it. I don't know about taking Vitex with Prom., but Vitex shouldn't be taken with Clomid because I head somewhere that it cancels it out. So... I would go ahead and stop the Vitex and let it get out of your system so that when you take the Clomid in April you will be good to go.
hth
Good luck!

Thanx AnotherDreamer,

I was getting scared that no one would respond and I did stop taking Vitex once I started the Prom since I hadn't received a reply. I'm going to start back with the Vitex after taking the Clomid. Wish me luck!!!

Hi,
I'm thinking of trying Prometrium, how is it working for you so far ?
I don't know much about Clomid though.
Also, I'm not trying to get pregnant, just trying to balance my hormones.

Paola,

I've taken Prometrium only once before and it made me extremely emotional. I started this round on Friday evening and thus far I haven't been feeling that way. TMI: I have been rather bloated though; which is one of the s/e. Other than that I've been fine. Good luck with whatever decision you make!!

My reply is probably too late. Anyway for what its worth, just started TTC#1..Been taking Vitex for a few months but saw my obgyn a few weeks ago and said I should stop taking Vitex if ttc. Apparently it alters your bleeding patterns. She also said that if I wasnt ttc, there was no harm in Vitex.. so I stopped

Did the doc tell you that you have estrogen dominance ?
I definitely have estrogen dominance and I'm in the process of seeing a number of different doctors that are more open to alternative treatments and do prescribe bio identical hormones.
The thing is, which is best ? Progesterone cream, pill form, there are so many options, who knows which is best.
I also have a fatty liver so I'm not sure if taking meds would benefit me or actually do more harm.
Anyway.......sorry I talk WAY too much.....but thanks for your reply.
