hi
i personally like met. It was wayyyy impossible for me to lose weight before met. And now that i have met (been on it about 5 years), i dont feel soooo tired any more.
eva
the side effects at the start are definitely a pain, but after only 2 weeks of being on met n losing 10lbs i reckon its worth it as ive never ever been able to lose weight before, no matter how much i tried, and the side effects do go away after a while!
Pros-Help lower insulin levels which in turn can produce af for those who havent seen it, can help with ovulation therefor help with pregnancy. During pregnancy it has been shown to reduce miscarraige rate in the 1st tri. can help to lose weight, can help to clear up skin, help lower testosterone levels.
(of course this isnt with everyone) Some people will see the obvious signs of it helping them like losing weight, clearing up of the skin etc and others only see it helping in the lab values.
Cons-Side effects. Some get nauseated, some tired, some diarrhea not sure what else. For me it was the diarrhea. I switched to the ER form and worked very slowly at getting the dosage to 2000mg.
i've only been on it for about a month but as far as i can tell the diarrhea is the worst side efect that i've experienced but i've also had nausea and dizziness. so far no AF, no weight loss

I was on it for 3 months with pretty normal cycles. Then I had a miscarriage. So the good news is that it's helping me ovulate where as before I couldn't on my own. I haven't had hardly any side effects. I did have an upset stomach when I first started it, but no problems since.
The first time I was on met it regulated my periods. Some cycles were longer than others (long cycles were around 45-50 days), but this was OK by me as I stopped having periods when I was 13 years old. I was diagnosed when I was 19 years old. The met also allowed me to lose weight, it stopped my hair from falling out and I was ovulating. One year ago I gave birth, and yesterday I started taking met again. I plan to let the met take its course over the next month or two, then in January I will stop the bcp to ttc. Good luck.
