Well, I just tried 2 different low carb high protein bars by EAS - Advant Edge - the Chocolate peanut butter and the Chocolate chip and they were both so bad I couldn't take more than 3 bites. The one good thing that my munchies were turned off fast! LOL
Are there any good tasting low carb bars out there? I looked at all different brands last night at Wal-Mart and all of them except the EAS had way to many carbs.
I'm the IR diet so I was trying to get something with the lowest amount of carbs possible, but I guess I could just eat some more protein with it to balance it out!

I eat the Advantage Atkins bars and I think they're pretty good. I only eat the Chocolate Peanut butter ones. That's not the one you're talking about, is it?? I've tried other flavours of Atkins bars but the only one to my liking is Chocolate Peanut Butter.

I dont really eat protien/diet bars that often, but I did try a Peanut butter CLIFF bar recently and it tasted pretty good! They come in all flavors inc. Chocolate mint...My DH loves them! I think they are nutritionally comprable to the Eas bars.. They may actually be a little healthier, as I believe they are all natural.
I really like the Zone bars apple cinamon and apple carmel. They tend to have like 20ish carbs and 15ish protien ( don't quote me on this) These are great for the IR diet and very yummy. No fake or wierd after taste. I don't like any of the atkins bars I have tried so far either.

I get these little bars at Rite Aid Called Detour. They have 160 calories, 15g protein, and 13g carbs. Because of the ingredients used, the net impact carbs are down to 7!!! Honest to gosh, they taste just like a snickers bar. GNC has them also, but in the bigger size, like for meal replacement. The same company also makes one called U Turn that tastes just like a Milky Way. They are sinfully good, and high in protein.

I have tried several brands, and the best ones I have found are made by "Balance"... they are almost like eating a candy bar. They are a little higher in fat than some of the other brands, but taste so much better!! The two flavors I have tried that taste really good are Triple Chocolate Chaos and Crunchy Chocolate Mint!!
Oh, the balance bars are good too!!! Mmmmm....tripel chocolate Chaos...try the choc crunch too! My fave of those is the peanut butter, and the strawberry cheesecake. Yummers!!!!

mmmmm, I'm going to have to look for those Detour and U turn bars KYBluegrass! They sound awesome!
I've found the Chocolate Peanutbutter ZONE bars to be really delicious! They have tons of other flavors too, and like Shannon said, they're around 20ish carbs, and 15ish protien. They're really good!
I had a Detour bad tonight it was very very good! It has splenda in it. I really enjoyed it. I bought some carbolite items today also they have splenda also gonna try one in a day or so.

Yummy ones I eat: EAS Lemon Cheesecake and the blueberry kind, all zones bars are delish (they do have sugar in them though, approx 13grams), and Akins bars once in a while (they have tons of sucralose which doesn't agree with me). The Pralines N' Crème is to die for! It tastes like white chocolate with caramel pieces.

I just tried a Detour bar today, and they really are yummy!!!!! I think I actually like them better than my old favorite - chocolate peanutbutter zone bars!! Tonight while we were at Target, I found the U Turn bars, I bought a few and will probably try one tomorrow! Thanks again, for posting about them KYBluegrass!!

Another vote for Balance Bars - I haven't had one Balance 'Gold' bar that I disliked.

I can't find any protein bars that don't use soy as the protein source (I'm hypothyroid, and trying to avoid soy) --anybody know of any? I did see one (forget the brand, maybe Carb Solutions?) but it used something like "hydrolyzed collagen" which kinda grossed me out.
I too am looking for a good protein bar with no soy - I know that PCOS sufferers should watch their soy intake so I try to stay away from it. Plus it makes me feel horrible and tears up my stomach. It is really hard to find low carb products of any kind without soy. I would be interested in any soyless product info.
FYI - I am sure a lot of you have the Sandra Woodruff Good Carb Cookbook --- I just tried the pizza recipe that was in there -- OH to die for!!!!
