I am so frustrated right now. I have taken Prometrium and Provera atleast 5 times before to bring on AF, and it has always worked until this cycle. My last dose of Provera was exactly 2 weeks ago and still no AF. This was supposed to be my first IUI and I was really looking forward to it. Has anybody else had Provera not work for them?
I have had provera take 11 days max to work I have heard of it taking up to the full two weeks but nothing past that.
I would definetly ring your dr for advice on what to do next sorry I wasn't much help.

For me, I always got my period after I stopped taking it...odd. Maybe thats what it takes? Then again I have only taken it twice before so I dunno....I hope the other cysters can help you with this...gl!

This happened to me sometime last year before I took my first round of clomid. Doc had prescribed 5 days of provera after which I had all my symptoms but AF did not show up and I was miserable with all the symptoms. 2 weeks later I called the doctor and she gave me another 10 days of provera, I guess that was too much for my body to take and I got AF just after my 9th dose.
I am not sure, maybe your body needed a higher dosage this time, coz as per what i have read and I am not expert, AF must show up in 5-14 days.
I dont know if I have been of any help.

I'm in the same boat as you, unfortunately. I've taken prometrium & provera many times in the past...it's now been over 3 weeks and still no AF. I've taken it twice over the last 2 months...still no AF. I have a doc appt on Thurs so I can tell you what they advised me to do. GL & pm me if you get results...I'm interested.

I called my RE's office on Friday and they called in BCP's for me. I am only supposed to take the pills for two weeks and hopefully AF will come then. Sounds strange to me, but I'd try anything at this point! Why is it AF never comes when you need her, but always shows up when you don't?!? lol
Usually, when Provera doesn't work you need to take estrogen & then provera/progesterone for it to work. It's usually due to low estrogen so the extra estrogen helps. The BCP's for 2 weeks should do the trick though.

Please take an HPT before you take any birth control pills. Remember I posted a few days ago about the prometrium...I've been looking for AF for almost 2 months.
I had my doctor appointment tonight & found out I'm actually pregnant. I have no idea when this happened...we were just going to start trying when AF came.

I've taken prometrium & provera several times too & AF always arrived w/in a week or so of my last dose- except once last year. My RE had me come in for an u/s to seewhat was going on. Turned out that I had a 35mm cyst on one ovary & it was keeping AF away. He had me take a round of BCP and when I went back for a follow up u/s 3 weeks later it was gone. AF arrived within a few days after that Just my experience...

I also took hpts & they were all negative. The doc's office one was positive & then I took 2 at home that turned out +++. My negatives were 2 weeks earlier. Try again just to be sure before starting the bcp. Good luck--blowing dust your way!!

sasingle, I took two hpt's this am and they were both BFP's!!! Unfortunatley, I had already started the BCP's. In addition to the BCP's I took OTC cold/allergy medicine last week. I just never imagined that I would get pg without an IUI or IVF. Looking back over the last few weeks, I guess I did have some symptoms. I felt sick to my stomach alot, and I even went to Wal-Mart for pickles and chocolate last week. Who would've thought? I guess we got our Christmas presents early I still can't beleive it, and I am very anxious to get to the Dr and confirm everything. Have a H&H 9 months and I guess I'll see you over on the pg board!
