I am hoping some smart ladies out there can look at my chart and give their opinions. I had signs of ovulation about to start this week with +OPK, EWCM and cervical position then my temp rose and fell and I made the assumption I must not have ovulated and started provera yesterday on CD38. I woke up this morning with the single largest increase in temp in one day throughout my entire cycle. (I have never taken provera, so didn't know how it would effect me)

Do you think the temperature rise is just because of the provera I took? Or did I possibly ovulate as signs appeared and getting a late temp rise?

If I might have ovulated, is there any harm in continuing the provera or should I stop taking it?

im not sure luv2run,i have no experience with taking provera.so i dont know how that would effect things.
all i can think of is your body got ready to o but then didnt for some reason.
i think you should probably carry on taking the provera if you have already started, but like i said i havent taken it so lets hope someone else gives some advice.xxx

Provera always made my temps rise more than anything else, making it look like I o'ed. I guess it's possible that you could have o'ed from it, but I would guess it is just the provera causing a temp rise. It's evil the way it does that, huh?

Your temp normally rises because of progesterone increase after O. Provera is synthetic progesterone. Ergo temp should rise on provera.

I took Provera in August.

It was a crazy cycle and my temps were all over the place so I honestly have no idea if I actually ovulated or not. However a couple days before I started the Provera my temps dropped & stayed at my normal AF/pre-O temps. For all I know AF may have arrived on her own within a day or so of the temp drop but I didn't really want to risk waiting around and have her not show since I was getting close to 2 months without a period. The day after I took my first pill my temps skyrocketed back up. It was at that point in time that I decided to stop temping while on the Provera since the temps would be unreliable because of the synthetic progesterone in my system.

If you did in fact ovulate, I don't think there would be any harm in continuing to take the Provera. It's a synthetic progesterone, so it's not really that different from taking a progesterone supplement during your luteal phase.

If you're really worried though, you could always give your doctor a call and see what they have to say....

Thank you everyone for you opinions. I will keep taking the provera. I have just one more day of it and then see what happens.
