I was just "diagnosed" yesterday. Technically we're waiting for the labs to come back before starting Metformin, but they did an ultrasound yesterday and I saw the "pearl necklace" myself. Does anyone else laugh a little at that terminology? My Reproductive Endocrinologist started me on Provera last night to try to bring on my cycle since I haven't had it in over a year. Problem is, my primary tried this about 7 months ago and nothing happened. Has anyone else ever had Provera not bring it on? Needless to say, now that I got up the courage to go to my new (much more supportive) doctor and I feel really comfortable with him, I want to start taking care of things as quickly as possible.
I'm also taking a women's multivit, Vitamin E, Slow FE, Fish Oil, Evening Primrose, Vitex (until we TTC), and I just started taking Chromium Picolinate yesterday after the appointment.
My boyfriend had a vasectomy about 7 years ago after his children were born, not expecting a divorce to happen so quickly, so when we TTC it will be either through in-vitro or a vasectomy reversal, but we are considering our options because once we get my cycles regulated, I think we'll start pretty quickly.
I know some people go through so many emotions when they are diagnosed, but for me it's pretty much just relief. I'd looked up so much on my symptoms and it seemed like it HAD to be PCOS, so knowing it for sure just feels good. All things considered, the fact that it isn't cancer or fibroids (my mom had to have a hysterectomy for fibroids about 15 years ago) is enough to make me thankful!
I specifically remember I had to take Provera longer then what is typically suggested for it to work for me. If memory serves, I took it for 10 days, rather then 5. I hated this drug with a passion, it really did a number on me, but it did the job it was meant to as well.
Best wishes

I usually do 10 days of it. How many days did you do? You didn't have a withdrawal bleed at all? It can take a bit for the bleed to happen. I would give it a try now, and then if it doesn't work then see what else they can do.

I think I was on it for 10 days. I'm not entirely sure. It might have been 7. I'm on day 7 of 10 now, so we'll see in about a week, I guess. The side effects are much worse this time around, so maybe that means something. I've had a headache/backache for 5 days straight, and don't even start me on the mood swings... If my boyfriend and I are still together and planning a wedding in a few months, I'll be pleasantly surprised.

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I had a similar question. I took 5 days of provera and finished last Tuesday. About how long should I wait for my period to start? I haven't been able to find this information.
Update: Nevermind, I found out about how long it takes... about 3 days.
