Question Provera with Metformin???

Hello. I have been on Metformin (1000 mg) since Jan 2006. At the time I was taking it along with BC and seemed to work fine. I quit taking BC and continued to have a cycle about every 38 days from July - November. My last cycle was in November. I went to my endo in February and he increased my metformin to 2000 mg per/ day. Well, I still have not had a cycle. I have spotted 3x's, but when I say spotted, I mean literally like a spot of blood. I wouldn't consider that a cycle. My question is this... should I continue to just take metformin alone and hope that I have a cycle, or should I see my endo again and ask for Provera? Also - if the 2 med's are taken together, can it "kick-start" my cycle?
I still don't have this PCOS thing down!!!

I would definitely ask your endo for something. If you're not getting your period every 2 months it can increase your risk for uterine cancer and endometriosis. Right now I'm on metformin and prometrium (I had a bad experience with provera). I take the metformin and if after two months I haven't menstruated on that alone I take the prometrium. I'm on 2000mg of met as well and so far I've only taken prometrium once. I also like doing it this way because I can tell if the metformin is working on it's own to get things going.

My doctor has me taking 1500mgs a day of Metformin and then taking Provera each month to jump start my cycle every month. So for 10 days out of the month I am on Provera. Without Provera I don't think I would even have a cycle. Its hard learning to control how your body works.
