My Aunt was on Clomid and she was taking provera every month to bring on her AF and the one month it didn't show up, the Dr. did a pg test and she was pregnant. I have only heard of Provera not working when there is a pregnancy. Any chance of that with you? Hope this helps.

I have never tried the Provera, but I did try prometrium, which I think is around the same type. It never brought AF either. I wish i could give you more info, but I do not know what the problem was. I have not had AF since Sept last year. Just wanted to let you know you were not alone in that. Niki

Hey Jill --
Provera didn't work for me the first two times I tried it.... I wasn't taking anything else at the time, just Provera. I took a long break from it and now it's working (well, it did the last time I took it). Don't give up hope! Sometimes it might just take a while for your body to adjust.
Hang in there and keep us posted!!!

I guess the obvious problem here, is that I don't have enough estrogen... perhaps I just need some of that.... but i will let you know what the DR prescribes...

I noticed you were taking, or had taken gonal-F -- is that only used when doing IVF?? how does it work?? and has it for you???

thanks! JILL

I understand how fustrating it for you, especially when the doctors tell you: 'take this and your period will come in a few days', and you take the provera and wait 5 to 10 while taking it, then up to two weeks for af to show and nothing. I have answered this question before. I have been given progesterone and provera to induce af and it always came except one time. I took it for 10 days and nothing, I waited 3 weeks and nothing, finally the doctor put me on bcp's for a month with the explanation, that my body just didn't produce a bleed and take the bcp's to get the right hormones. I was so upset, It had been a month and now he wanted me to go on bcp's for a month. But to tell you the truth it wasn't so bad I took the bcp and af showed 3 weeks later. I hope this helps.

Hey Jill --
Acutally I took the gonal-f with plans to do the IUI (not IVF). However, I had a TON of follies, so my DH and I got to BD instead (we weren't interested in selective reduction, so my doc didn't want to do the IUI). I was pretty slow to respond in the beginning, so I took 13 days of injections rather than the originally planned 9 days, but by day 12, I had a BUNCH of follies. I have a bit of hyper-stimulation, but not the syndrome (it still hurt like heck for about 4 days)! I'm recovering now and I am currently in the 2ww (my first real 2ww ever). So, we'll see how it all shakes out. I go see my doc NEXT Thursday, so I'm trying to be patient (what's another 7 days, right?!?!?)...
I am following the gonal-f up with provera tablets (they are like lozenges, but they taste HORRIBLE. However, I hear that some women have to do the suppository thing, so really I need to stop whinning about the taste)!
I'm interested to hear what your doc has to say!
BTW -- are you a thin cyster? Perhaps that's part of it all too???

thanks for the info stephanie,
- so gonal-f is not used like clomid, then I take it... ( sorry -- don't know too much about it!)
I just remember my RE saying something about some drug that would produce a ton of eggs... and I couldn't remember if it was gonal-f or not ---

I am an "average"cyster -- almost 5'7" @135 pounds --- does that have anything to do with met working or not????
