Question Provera and Ovulating

I am on day 5 of Provera. (1st round). I know it takes about 3-10 days after Provera to get AF. Should I be ovulating before I get AF, or not until the cycle after? Please help. thanks

Provera alone may not cause you to ovulate. You can have a cycle and not ovulate. If you are taking metformin(glucophage), you should start taking it the first day of your cycle, and if taking clomid, take that the 3rd day of your cycle. Then the end of the 2nd and start of the 3rd wk, you should ovulate. I just started the PCOS study at Baylor in Houston last week. I read up on everything. I am # 86 in the study that started in 2002 and they have had 18 concieve. I forgot to ask how many were multiple births. I am on day 5 of provera (prometrium).

Keep my e-mail address, ckgrange@hotmail.com. I just realized we are on the same schedule. With the study, I have to have weekly blood draws and they call me when I am ovulating. When they call me, I can e-mail you and let you know too. Maybe we can be soul buddies. I don't chat that much, e-mail is easier for me. I was looking for someone that was in the study in Houston, too.

Bec-The two months that I took Provera it was 10 mg. for 10 days. I would usually see AF around two-three days after taking my last pill. Since you count CD1 as the first day of AF, last month when I ovulated it was on CD18. I take the Clomid from CD5-9, which makes O happen later than those who take it CD3-7 or CD2-6. How are you handling the Provera? The two months that I took it I was fatigued and unbearable from DH's standpoint. This month I got lucky with an O and finally got a natural AF.

Good Luck!!

Cat-Fortunately (knock on wood) i have had no bad side affects to Met or Provera. Were your 2 cycles regular?? I am getting so antsy to get AF. As soon as I do, i will start to chart my temps and prob use an OPK. Then in June will prob switch to Clomid.

Rebecca-My first cycle on Provera and Clomid didn't result in O'ing, so I took Provera to jump start my second cycle combined with 100mg of Clomid which resulted in O'ing, so fortunately I didn't need Provera for the third cycle.

Charting is the best way to keep track of the differences in your cycle. I did notice that my temps were much higher while I was taking the Clomid and then would fall 1-2 days later.

Good Luck to you....((((Baby Dust)))).

Question

Lisser- fortunately I saw no side effects from Provera. I am not on Clomid thought!

PS JUST GOT AF on Friday! YAYA

All- 2 questions- Is it normal that AF is just spotting for a day or 2 or should i have a heavier cycle (esp after not having one for 4 mos)

Also- Started to chart my temps. Is it normal for someone with PCOS to have a lower temp than norm? All of the BBT charts I see start at 97. My temps for the last few days are 96.8. Is this normal or is my BBT thermometer broken!!

Default waiting for AF

I girls, I just found this thread and it's exactly where I am. I took provera for 10 days, (no AF since Dec) and will take clomid day 3-7 if AF ever shows up. DOes anyone ever take provera and still get no AF? I finished provera on the 15th, it's now the 18th and I feel no signs of AF any where near! It's sooo frustrating waiting, who would have ever thought we would want AF eh?Well can't wait to see how it goes for everybody, good luck!

My doctor said to only try clomid for 3-4 cycles, if it doesn't result in in a +ve preg it won't. He gave me presc for 50 mg clomid then 3 months of 100 mg if 50 doesn't work. Just wondering if your doc told you the same thing, also are you being monitored at all for anything? I feel like I'm on my own a bit. He's doing the blood test to check for O on day 21 but other than that I don't see him again until August unless a miracle happens and I get a +ve! This whole process just seems to take soo long! I don't mean to whine but I'm getting depressed. ANy info would be great
thanks cheryl

It is kinda tough just waiting for it each month- especially when all of your friends seem to be pregnant, or just having babies. GRRRRR. anyway... My AF started after 4 days of Provera stopping. It was just light spotting for 3 days, which seemed odd to me.
Called my dr and she said that as long as there is something its ok.

Cher- I would say if you dont have anything after 10 days of Proveras finish to call the dr.

Good Luck to all.

Cool Can i join you guys??

I've been reading your posts and i'm sorta in the same boat...i'm on my 4th day of provera and am doing pretty good except a few crampies and lots of chin acne :p ouch!

I've done the clomid thing several times and it never worked for me...but i'm contemplating using soy cd 3-7 this time just to see if maybe IT would work...i've read its supposed to the same thing as clomid but without the s/e. Which is good for me cuz clomid made me a raging psycho!! I am ttc-ing but i'm more concerned with just trying to O on my own once in my life...before i revert back to my tried and true injection process.

I'm really curious to see if the soy does the same things as clomid...so hopefully you wont mind me hanging around here.

And Cher...i wonder if you and i have the same doctor??!!

Thanks!!

Wouldn't that be neat. I'm currently seeing Dr. Jones. He's great. I was going to Dr. Ling as she was my dr for my first preg but I couldn't get in to see her for 5 months (nice health care) so I went to see Dr. Jones and he's been so helpful. Who do you see and is she good?
