Took my 1st set of Provera 10mg * 10 days and finished Thursday 3/13 and period started 2 days after on Saturday 3/15 for 4.5 days. Regular flow and not heavy or painful. Then again, it may be because I only missed 1 period in February so the lining was all that thick..lol..
Didnt have any problems on Provera at least ones that I noticed.
Also my dr recommended I buy a fertility monitor to test everyday since not sure when my ovulation is or if am even ovulating. Its CD11 and the monitor shows High fertility (detects a luteal surge) and am expecting that the monitor will show Peak fertility (ovulation) in the next few days.
I wonder if anyone can shed some light for me
(1) My dr told me to track my ovulation everyday for the next 3 months to confirm if I ovulate on my own
- Is this normal?
- She said that if i do ovulate on my own, then Clomid cant help me?
(2) My current tracking indicates that it is likely that I ovulate on my own after taking Provera,
- Is it the Provera causing the ovulation?
- Or I'm I ovulating on my own
(3) Can I still take Clomid, even if it shows that I'm ovulating?
MY dr told me that Provera can make you ovulate so she is probabaly having you track yourself for three months so you can see wether it was the provera or if you are ovualting on your own. Hope i was a little help. and good luck

I didnt know Provera can help one ovulate. I thot it was just to get your period started? Oh well, not sure how tracking for 3 months can help because even if I'm ovulating (which am praying hard that I am), how will the dr know if its the provera or if its all on my own
Also, maybe you can help.. Is Provera a one shot deal i.e. do i have to take this every month to have a period? or once is enough
Hi Jade. When you take Provera it only gives you your period that one time. It doesn't last months or anything like that.
Clomid helps you ovulate so if your already ovulating on your own it wouldn't do anything for you. It would probably just increase the amount of eggs your releasing. ( Which increases your chance of multiples)
I wasn't ovulating at all and I went on Clomid for 3 months and now I have twins!
Hope this helps. Good Luck and Baby Dust to you!!!!!!

Hi Jade! I took Clomid for the 1st time this month. It was 50 mgs for CD 5-10.
My Dr. perscribed it to me after I tried to get pregnant unsuccessfully for 7 yrs. I ovulate on my own, just not all the time. Like once every 3 months maybe. Apparently if you experience cramping, that means that you are ovulating. Well I cramp about every other month, so that must mean I ovulate then. But wonder why I haven't been able to get pregnant? Good question.
Anyways I just wanted to let you know that I do take Clomid and I also ovulate on my own. Clomid makes your body ovulate providing that you are not Clomid resistant. I had a progesterone test done on CD21 and it shows I o'd on Clomid...so I am just waiting to see what happends next.
My Dr. never made me monitor my cycles with a ovulation prediction kit either, but maybe it's a good thing that your Dr is doing that.
Have you been for any tests?

Thanks for your response. I have done some tests mostly blood and Ultrasound to confirm PCOS. I also did a blood test a few weeks ago to confirm that I wasnt pregnant before taking Provera.
I was on the pill for years to regulate my period stopped in Oct/Nov and had periods regularly till Jan and then in Feb nothing - thats usually how mine goes.. regular for months then bang, its all goes out of wack for like 3 months, then comes back hence the pill prescription years ago.. .. I dont know if I ovulate or not, thats why the dr wanted to confirm but she seems to think that I probably do though may not be regular.
So I guess with the Provera, we have officially just ttc #1 from March 2008 and I'm really waiting for a BFP. Infact waiting to see if I ovulate this month, been tracking everyday now,
From what I have been told, by my RE, Clomid will not help if you are already ovulating. Actually, it can trigger OHSS in people who do not need it to induce ovulation. Since Clomid only induces ovulation it wouldn't be necessary if you are already ovulating.

I ovulate on my own, but fairly late (usually around day 30)... so my dr. has put my on clomid in hopes that it will make me O a little sooner (which is kind of hit and miss in my clomid cycles thus far) and in hopes that it will give me a stronger O (which it has...) I actually did get pregnant on my 4 attempt with the clomid but it ended up being a chemical...
I will begin doing ovulation tests this month... I hear people talk about fertilty monitors? Is that something different? If so which is better. My RE just told me to go Target and buy a box of ovulation tests...now Im confused. :O)
hi again jhawkins!
my RE said that it is better to just get the OPK sticks and not the clearblue easy fertility monitor b/c the monitors test two different things and clomid can mess with that. i had bought a $200 fancy monitor that now i have to return. good luck!
