Default provera and period induction

Hello all

I have been on provera for 2 months now to induce my period and the side effects are a little weird. Aside from the expected cramps, bloating, etc., i get a pain in my sternum that isn't really painful, but more like extremely uncomfortable. I can't sleep while on it, then when i come off of it, i sleep all day and when i try to get up i feel drunk and i have no other choice but to flop back onto the bed. and i just feel generally horrible everyday. Has anyone else had these side effects?

Also, my dr. isn't the most informative person. He doesn't answer my questions directly so i'm wondering...since i have cystic ovaries, is the provera inducing the period so that after a few cycles the cysts will dissipate? and will i have to be on provera forever or will my cycles ever regulate and come on their own?

my husband is military and has been in korea since january 08. he came home on leave in august and that's when we went to the specialist. so for now i'm just on the provera until he gets back in january 09 for good and then the dr. says he will start the ovulation induction. should be fun

I just started on Provera as well. I do have some chest pain too. Are your cramps much more painful as well?

Hi,
Welcome to SC! I don't do well with Provera and have very heavy bleeding and clots. My RE (Reproductive Endocrinologist) prescribed Aygestin instead and I do better with that.

actually about the cramps, yes. i thought it was all in my head. it's also hard to tell with me because i've always had painful cramps but it is so much worse with these pills. i'm debating whether i should skip a month and give my body some time to recoup

i'll have to ask about that. provera produces way too many side effects
