Default Provera Poll

Hey ladies.... my doc has me on provera, 12 day course of 10mg every 6 to 8 weeks, for AF inducement since I rarely start on my own. Is anyone else on this type of schedule or one similar? and, if so and knowing the dangers of the drug to an unborn fetus, how many (if any!) of you take an hpt prior to starting the med?

I started on Provera 10mg for 10 days when I was on CD 40 something back in July. The doctor took a test to make sure I wasn't pregnant. He said I still could have ovulated but the Provera wouldn't hurt anyways.

I got AF 3-4 days after the last pill. MD told me it COULD take weeks. I am thankful it didn't.

I took Clomid CD 5-9 and on CD 28 (tomorrow) if no AF arrives I take a test. If it's negative, I wait a week -- and if still no AF I take another one. Negative? Start the Provera all over again.

Hope any of this helps.

I take Provera every month or two to induce AF, but I don't take nearly as much as you do! My old ob/gyn prescribed me 5mg/7 days and when that ran out my RE prescribed 10mg/10 days. After about 3-4 days on that dosage, I thought, well I'm an emotional wreck! I compared the 2 pill bottles and realized that the pills were double the dosage. So now I just take the 10mg for 4 days and that makes me start on the 3rd day after being off of it. I do POAS but honestly it probably doesn't do much good because we don't use protection for the 2 weeks leading up to the test, so I could be pg but the test wouldn't register it yet.
