Hi ladies,
I'm on day 6 of Provera, used to induce a period (after about 6 months of no period). I have a couple of questions:
1)my hands and feet are swollen tonight. I was very active today and got pretty dehydrated, which may be the cause. When should I call my dr. about this swelling?
2) I started looking up info about Provera because of my swelling, and I found that it is a category X drug. If this is true, why do they give provera to women in early pregnancy? Is it really that dangerous?? (I'm looking for moms who have given birth to healthy babies after taking Provera during pregnancy)
Well, I don't know about the swelling on Provera, but I didn't like Provera in general. It is very strong, and made me breakout. Plus, I don't want to touch anything Category X! I prefer Prometrium or Crinone (vaginal suppositories), both of which I used during my first trimester. The only problem I had on prometrium was dizziness so that's why I switched to the suppositories.
Also some ladies use natural progesterone cream, which you can even find at Walmart. I just think either prometrium, crinone, or NPC would be better for you, esp if you get pregnant.
I've never heard of Provera for pregnant ladies?? My GYN Has told me to be very cautious with condoms and foam when using it because it can cause very bad birth defects!

I figured out the swelling thing.... I was definitely dehydrated. As I typed my post, I drank 2 big glasses of water, and by the time I was finished, the swellig had completely gone away.
I guess that's what I get for cleaning my garage when it's 108 outside!
I haven't even ovulated yet, so I guess I shouldn't worry about the provera just yet... I see my RE in a week and 1/2, and I'll ask him about it then.
