My Mood: Points: 1,495.31 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,495.31 | Provera to stop cycle In reading through the Provera-related threads, it seems as though most people have taken it to start their cycle. I was prescribed Provera to STOP my cycle that has been going for 2 months straight now! Has anyone had a similar experience?
I've taken 8 out of the 10 pills so far. It still hasn't stopped or really changed at all. Does anyone know how long it is suppose to take?
Thanks for your help!!

Anyway i have been bleeding since the middle of feb. and just took day five of my pills i have notice that during the day its a little lighter and not nearly the size or amounts of clots i was having before ( sorry tmi ) but the bleeding is still there. So i am confused im not sure if its after we stop the pills then get another af till its all regulated and everything comes to an end finally. I am not to thrilled about having another af. My doctor had said to call her when i get it if the bleeding is too heavy. So thats where i am at. I hope to hear from ya soon! Good luck to both of us! |

My Mood: Points: 1,495.31 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,495.31 | Hi there! Sounds like you have been dealing with the same thing! Well, the Provera didn't help me. I ended up having to take a second round of it (2 pills for 5 days versus 1 pill for 10 days), and still no change. My doctor gave me the option of having a hysteroscopy and a D&C to see what may be going on or trying a different medicine. I decided to try the other medicine (Megace). The Megace has made a HUGE difference, though it hasn't gone away completely (mostly just random spotting). However, one of the side effects of Megace is spotting! I took my last dose tonight (15 days of it -- whew!) so Lord-willing it will finally stop. It sounds like the Provera has made at least some of a difference for you so that's a good sign. Hopefully by day 10 it will be completely stopped for you. Isn't it interesting how the same medicine is used to start and stop cycles? ...If the Provera doesn't end up working for you, you may want to look into Megace. Apparently it's more potent but may have been just what I needed. Let me know how you're doing and like you said, good luck to both of us!

But shortly after dinner it came back nothing bad but enough to put a damper on my evening plans.... So it seems to be working but im not out of the clear yet. 3 more days to go and im hoping they fly by cause i cant wait for this to end. I will keep ya posted. Heres to bleed free days!!!! |

It turns out I still haven't stopped. I called my doctor and he suggested I still have the hysteroscopy and D&C. The nurse said she would wait a week or two if it were her just to see if it stopped on its own. I'm hoping it will, but I'm almost to the point that I would rather go ahead and have the surgery rather than continue waiting to see if it will stop. It's so hard to not stress about it! Hopefully it will come to an end soon, though. Let me know how you're doing when you have a chance.

Points: 1,030.98 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,030.98 | Hello there, yes it finally stopped HORRAY!!!! I took my last pill yesterday so now im waiting for the next round of bleeding for it to be COMPLETLEY back to normal. I have a question is the period i have going to be one where i ovulate or not? I am thinking not but im not sure and was hoping maybe you knew. I am sorry to hear that you still are going through it. I just found out my BFF is pregnant again after already having an 8 month old yesterday. So that put a HUGE damper on my day not that im not happy for her it still hurts tho. I have been trying to conceive since july of last year. But now that everythings back on track im putting it in overdrive lol. Its kinda funny shes managed to have two in the time ive been trying for one. I guess it will happen when it happens and not any sooner. Are you sure you dont want to wait just a bit longer for the surgery? Just to make sure you make the best possible decision, you would hate to regret it later. Well i gotta take my dog for a walk hes going nuts. Let me know how you make out and if you have an answer to my question that would be great. Take care and good luck to ya! |

My Mood: Points: 1,495.31 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,495.31 | Hi there! I'm so glad AF finally stopped for you!! That's awesome. ...Mine still has not stopped completely. My doctor said that they hysteroscopy can rule out anything that may be abnormal, and the D&C will apparently clean everything out and allow me to kind of start over. My doctor talked like it may help with fertility because it kind of resets everything. I'm praying this will work! I have my surgery tomorrow. I scheduled it last minute today and they were able to work me in. (My doctor only does surgeries on Tuesdays, so if they didn't get me in tomorrow I'd have to wait until next week -- and worry about it until then!) I'll let you know how it goes. I'm not totally sure about your ovulation question, but my doctor had told me before that if your cycle seems to be getting back to normal for you (3-4 weeks in between cycles), then you're probably ovulating. You could always do an ovulation test to be sure. ...About your BFF getting pregnant again, I know how you feel. You're happy for your friend but it also hurts since you have been trying for awhile. We've been trying for the past 4 years but I have had so many health problems. It's hard to not get discouraged. But I'm sure it will eventually happen. Just hang in there. ...Well take care and I will write after my surgery and let you know how it went!

I am still waiting for the period to arrive i had some very light spotting yesterday so it should be here very soon. I am very excited to start trying again i think that this may just have been a random event. Or at least thats what im hoping for. I know what ya mean about the discouragement but every time i get discouraged i get all the more motivated so a guess thats a plus. I will be keeping ya in my thoughts and hoping the surgery goes well. Hopefully this will work for ya, GOOD LUCK! |

My Mood: Points: 1,495.31 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,495.31 | Thanks so much for the prayers, I really appreciate it! I had the surgery today and it went okay but it was unsuccessful. It turns out that during the surgery my doctor was unable to get the super small camera through my cervix because it is too narrow! He was unable to do the hysteroscopy or the D&C...He referred me to a fertility specialist. We checked our insurance and I found a grouping of doctors that specialize in reproductive endocrinology. I was actually able to get an appointment for Friday morning! (At first it was going to be later in the month but I think the lady I talked to felt sorry for me after hearing all I had been through lately and especially today. She went and talked to her supervisor to get me in!) I'm eager to get this appointment done, hopefully this doctor will have some answers for me -- and he may even be able to help with the hormonal imbalances I'm dealing with so much now since his speciality is endocrinology. ...I guess it was a blessing in disguise that the medicine didn't work. Otherwise I would never have had the surgery and if I didn't have the surgery I wouldn't have known about my too-narrow cervix. My doctor said it can be a cause for infertility, so maybe that has been the main issue all along!! I read online that it can be corrected with a minor surgery. Hope so!!
Hope your period arrives soon and I hope all goes well for you. Sending lots of baby dust your way! Talk to you soon!!

You now probably have the answer thats been holding you back from being able to conceive!!!! Im so glad that the operation wasnt able to proceed cause that would have been tragic to have an irreversable surgery for something thats easily fixable. Also congrats on the Endo specialist most insurances dont cover fertility issues so you have been lucky on that end of things to. I guess someones lookin out for you up above! My period came yesterday i have been really tired and crampy today. I guess after having a period that was so bizzare and heavy im just not used to having a normal bleed LOL! Well time for work, CONGRATULATIONS for FINALLY finding out whats wrong. Wishing you an uneventful surgery and speedy recovery so you can get back on the baby train with me CHOO CHOO!!!Take care. |

My Mood: Points: 1,495.31 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,495.31 | Thanks so much! I went to the RE on Friday and it went GREAT! He said the narrow cervix is no big deal, it's actually very common in women that have not had children yet and it can vary day to day with changes in hormones. He did an ultrasound while I was there and said that my lining was very thin which was very good -- less of a chance of cancer cells and polyps. He doesn't think that I need to have the surgery now. Yehh!!! So now I'm suppose to go for bloodwork in 2 weeks for a full work-up, and then they'll prescribe me something to make me ovulate (finally!). Funny thing is, after that appointment AF nearly stopped!!! I don't know if it was just the relief of things turning around or just a coincidence. But things are definitely going better.
It has been GREAT talking to you throughout all of this, it has really helped. Keep me updated on how you're doing as well. Take care!

Points: 1,030.98 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,030.98 | That is soooooooo AWESOME!! I am so happy for both you and your husband. I am glad that you dont need surgery and found this RE before you went ahead with everything. My AF tends to do the same thing to me. It will start or stop once i find out im either not pregnant or that nothing is wrong. So maybe it is really all the stress. Its funny how our bodies deal with things even when we think we are fine. My bloodwork came back completly normal so i dont have any weird things going on with my hormones but my af has been longer than seven days. Not heavy just spotting for the most part so im not too worried. It seems as though its coming to an end though. I feel much better having answers as im sure you are as well. I bet you are so excited. Are you and your husband planning on trying for childeren again? I cant wait to start again. Well i have to get ready for work. I am so happy for you. I also have enjoyed speaking with you. Its always nice to have a shoulder to lean on for support. Enjoy your holiday weekend and take care!CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
