Man this provera is doing a number on me...I am usually a very pleasant, no stress, happy go lucky person, but this Provera is turning me into some kind of witch...it's like I want to bite the heads off of everyone who looks at me funny. Even my co workers noticed a difference. I just had to explain to them that I am not myself and I am sorry. It makes me think that I should stop taking this.
Ggggrrr I am like a grizzly bear that has been woken up in the middle of hibernation only to find out I am sleeping in a puddle of sludge and everything I own has been taken....shall I go on ?
Its not normal for me either, could just be the Xmas/Holiday stress added to it all ??
I dunno but I hope you get back to your normal self soon !

Yah, I think the holidays and the extra work load is adding to it.
Its just so strange to go from a nice person to a witch in a couple seconds over stupid things...these hormones are a doozy!
I guess I'll just hang a sign on my neck that reads :
I too am a ravishing mad woman on Provera. In fact it's gotten to the point in our house (since this is our fifth time with Provera) that we refer to them as our "bi***" pills. DH knows about two days after I start them to look out! There are plenty of times at work where I just go in, close my door and stay there...knowing it's for everyone's benefit!

Can you take prometrium instead. I felt better on this since it is not a synthetic form of progestin. Provera made me crazy and caused higher blood pressure. Prometrium was much kinder.

Same problem here..after my last stint in ER they put me on a low dosage for 30 days to stop the mass bleeding that I had done. I am about 3/4 finished the pills but man the irratibility has been a killer. Holidays have something to do with it I am sure, plus I do have a stressful job. However it's not helping being on these pills.
Good luck ladies!!

I am on my second day of Provera, first time ever. I know I just started, but mood-wise I feel fine. It has made me a bit nauseous.
When do you notice that you start getting irritable generally?

Usually the mood swings kicks in about day 5 or 6 of taking it for me. It's just so hard to explain...and then to apologize to family and co-workers. My gyno wants me to take Provera every month...day 1 to 15. Regular BCP make my blood pressure go up, I then went on a lower dose but it still made my BP go up. So now its Provera...this will be my 3rd month taking it...and I am a total witch!
Calling me a witch would only be too kind in explaining the hormonal mess that I have been this provera cycle. Normally I am tolerable but this cycle I actually made my husband cry I have been so mean. I have thrown things(other than my normal temper tantrums), I have screamed things(things I would normally not scream) and cried and laughed more(in a 5 minute span) than I ever have. I obtained the generic version this time and wonder if maybe that is having an influence(somehow...I'm not sure how but weirder things have happened) on my severe agitation. Thankfully I am done taking the pills and I am now waiting for my period to show up when it's least convenient.
Evil is an understatement when describing me when I take my provera. All my friends know about my PCOS so they know whats up when Im being a total b*tch to them. I usually find myself crying and getting frustrated over the simplest things. I usually just have to stay away from my dad when Im on it 'cause I usually find myself going head to head with him on the stupidest things. But, the stuff works really well with my period adjustment, so I put up with it.
I must be one of the lucky ones - aside from nausea the first day, I haven't noticed any side effects whatsoever. No mood swings at all. I am currently on Day 9 of Provera.

I too have taken the b**ch pill and will never do it again! Natural progesterone cream is what I started and the only negative side effect I've had is a little breast swelling. I've lost water weight in my belly, got rid of headaches almost completely, no more migraines and testosterone and thyroid labs are normal for once. I use Arbonne prolief and have posted about it several times.
