i was on it for about a year (10mg) the doctor said i looked and sounded depressed.. i actually wasn't.. i was just sick and tired of feeling this way (right before i got diagnosed) and he put me on it.. i was just a little bit happier.. but i didn't really want to be on it.. i had severe mood swings while i was on it..

i've been on 20mg for a little over three months, and i would say it's helped tremendously, but i still have a long way to go. i used to have severe depression (wouldn't get out of bed etc), and i used to obsess over my appearance (body dysmorphic disorder). i was also so anxious that i couldn't leave the house. prozac is supposed to help with all three of those behaviors. i'm no longer depressed, and the severity of my other symptoms are lessened. i have my days where i'm still affected by the anxiety and obsessive thinking, though it's no longer extreme and ruling my life like it used to. i'm alot more optimistic!

it sounds like depression and anxiety is definitely affecting your quality of life. i'm sure i don't need to tell you that, but talking to a psychiatrist about meds might help out alot. different drugs work differently on certain people, but prozac doesn't have alot of side effects compared to some of the other meds i've tried. some people feel weird about taking anti-depressants, but if you find out that you do have a chemical imbalance it can give you some normalcy back.

I was on Prozac previously and it worked wonders for me. I was always so optimistic and energetic. Though it hurt my sex life (no O ) it was worth it in the long run. So much so I just started it again about 2 wks ago. Not to mention it's safe for pregnancy

An unlabeled use of Prozac is for obesity. I think the energy it gives you is partially why. The last time I went on Prozac it was so easy for me to stick to a diet. So it's certainly helpful in that category. I can't remember what mg i was on last time. I'm at 20 now and guess I go up to 40 in a few weeks.
