Question Prozac?

Anyone have any experience with Prozac? I started taking it last week after meeting with my endocrinologist and discussing my depression and mood swings.

He told me I could take it just for PMS, but since my period is so unpredictable and I'm prone to depression anyway, I'm going to take it all the time.

How long does it take to work? Did it work long term for you?

TIA!!

Hello Alison! The time length for it to start working is always around 3-4 weeks for it to really kick in for most antidepressants. However, my first time around with Prozac I felt great in a week or two. I only stayed on it for a few months. How is it working for you so far?

Thanks for asking Kristina. I'm doing pretty well with it. I'm only taking it every other night for the first 10 days, so I go every day on Sunday. I've started sleeping much better and my crying episodes have stopped, so I think it's working.

Happy Valentine's day!

I wouldn't take any SSRIs on and off--for me the worst "side effects" were always when I came off or on any of them, they usually dissipated within a couple weeks, although I haven't tried prozac specifically.
