Default I have it bad.......

I have psorisis in my ears and my scalp and a small patch on my back and underarms and waist. I went to my primary physcian the other day and she' going to let me go back to using diprolene on my ears with any kind of luck and has given me something for the scalp that I can pick up tomorrow.

I hope it clears up a bit.

My little sister ( yeah 38 and still my little sis LOL) has it bad on her elbows and legs.

I have wondered if there is a connection with PCOS and Psorisis.

Good Luck ladies.

Hey gals! I also have psoriasis. I have it in my scalp, behind and in my ears, on my back, on my waist, under my breasts, some on my thighs, and on my underarms. My grandmother on my mom's side and my grandfather on my dad's side also had it. I manage it sometimes with Olux foam, I guess you could call it managing it. It seems to be worse in the winter, however, it is pretty bad right now. The spots on my back have just recently appeared. I am going to have to get back to the dermatologist. Maybe we could all start sharing ideas on what has worked for us. I do know that going to the tanning bed has helped mine, but I haven't been this year yet! Hope to hear from you all soon! If anyone wants they can pm me or email me at cristi_meredith@yaoo.com
Good luck and God Bless!

I've had Psoriasis since I was 7. Back then it was just in my scalp but REALLY bad, I was actually bald wherever I had a patch.
It settled down for a long time and then reoccured.
I noticed that it seems to spring up more when I'm pg.
Generally it's mild, only red patches the only place I'm flaky is my scalp. I have red patches on my face(around my nose and eyebrows) between and underneath my breasts and over most of my back.
I don't tend to use prescribed meds as I have never found any that have really helped. I use Vaseline Intensive Care, extra dry which tends to keep it down on my face.
Any tips on what's best for the scalp, I use head and shoulders but it's not that good. Does anyone use T-Gel, is it any good?

dixonchick...I have used the T-gel before and it is pretty good. I still use it every now and then. I have to be careful with it because I have my hair highlighted. Best of luck to you!

Oh ladies....
My docs, and I have 5 of them, feel that my "p" is hormone related. There is no family history and I flare up under stress realllly badly. Heck, my dermatologist is for the gastric bypass because he feels weight loss will improve it.
I have Psoriasis on my scalp, belly, and around my nose and ears. My scalp is the worst. As if Pcos didn;t already give me hair loss, I have spots where ehr stuff is so bad I can barely cover it up. :o I also have a spot in the crack of my hiney. Right on the tailbone. That is the worst when it gets too dry and cracks and bleeds. I have bled thru my clothes like I was on AF.
Since I have lost my insurance (again!) I am on my own for meds. The rule for me is--the greasier the better!
I still have some of my rx's left, so I am using them sparingly.
I have: diprolene--very good on the face and ears an also my nasty belly button that likes to get inflamed and ooze.
Dovonex/Ultravate combo: very good, but messy and hard to apply plus you have to be very dedicated.
Olux foam. A godsend. I used it for my scalp and it is wonderful. But, if you don't keep on top of it and treat flareups, then it all comes back.
Olux is the only stuff that I could get into my hair. The other stuff is all onitments and makes my hair yucky, plus you can't always get to everything as it gets all over your hair instead.
Olux is about 140.00 w/o rx coverage. So I am doing w/o that at the moment.
As you can see from my sig line, I am also one of the lucky(?) 1 out of every ten people with Psoriasis who develps the related arthritis. I hate it and am approved for remicade. That is an IV infusion once every 8 weeks or PRN. It is supposed to help me battle the skin and bone issues.

On a side note: Do any of you take methotrexate? I do, and as I am not ttc right now, I was wondering if Anyone had gone off of it to ttc, just curios.

Good luck and Vaseline and Baby 0il work great.:o :o :o

I have always had nice skin. ..But since my hysterectomy Total.. and being dx. with pcos, my skin is really dry.....I was dx with psorasis last year....... 1 year after being dx with pcos and having hysterectomy........ Nobody else in my family has this......... the areas are on my inside feet just below my ankles my heels crack because of the dryness... i use a cordran tape everynight and remove it in am... it is an old tx for psorasis....... i feel this is all related but the docs say noooooo...but they don't know everything......................

I have had psoriasis since I was 16 and that's about when symptoms started with pcos!!!!
I have it on my scalp, ears, behind ears, elbows, knees, small dots on stomach, bikini line, and ankles. I only treat the ones on elbows and knees with the dovonex, it works great, but is messy at times.

I started using paul mitchell's tea tree shampoo about a year ago and it works great for the scalp. Something with the tea tree contains the "p"
I've been told that psoriasis is a result from liver problems due to stress!! And with the problems pcos has who couldn't be stressed over that!!

I used to have really bad psoriasis on my arms and I swear by this topical cream called "Elocon" Sometimes at night I used to scratch it so much that my dkin would crack and bleed. The cream stings a little at first but it is so relieving and the next day I would see a dramatic difference, and the more I used it, the better my skin got. It has been years since I have had it really bad, I very rarely get a break out and when I do it is like a little dot and I still keep "Elocon" in my medicine cabinet and it works wonders.

I use Elocon too! It's worked wonders for me as well. I never leave home without it!

Hello,

You do need to get a prescription from a doctor, I wish it was over the counter.
