I'm scheduled for my first gyno visit EVER in just 5 weeks! *eek* I'm a hairy cyster. I would like to make sure the area is "cleaned up" before I go, but I don't want to have nasty razor burn, either. I've used the shaving powder before with GREAT results, but I don't know if I really want to go in bald, either. Advice please!

I don't like to go completely bald either. I recently bought an electric bikini line trimmer/groomer and oh my gosh I LOVE IT. Its specially designed for that area and has different setting for cutting the hair different lengths. Its so much faster and easier than using scissors though I still have to use scissors for the trickier spots. Then I either shave or epilate the hair that peaks out the sides of my underwear. I think I bought mine for like 20 bucks...so worth it.
A long time ago I decided to go in without shaving because my DR was an idiot and I wanted him to see how bad my issues were. It's not like you are trying to impress them, you are trying to get them to help you, besides they have seen everything.
I honestly don't think that they care at ALL! As the above poster mentioned, they've seen IT ALL!

Get involved in animal rescue. You won't be sorry. Your heart may break, there may be times when your eyes are red-rimmed for days. You may lose faith in the goodness of people, but your spirit will be renewed by the resilience of those you save. It isn't easy, but it's worth it. I promise you, you will be forever changed.
I'm exactly the same way with my visits, I have to be fresh & clean lol. A product that I use is the Pure Romance-Coochy Rash Free Shaving Cream. It's designed for both men and women to tame course body hair. It Relaxes the hair follicle to allow a smooth, clean shave. & Helps eliminate the red bumps that often appear in the bikini area, underarms, and legs after shaving. It also Doubles as a gentle hair conditioner. It works wonders, Hope this helps
Hi. All doctors are usually trained not to freak out because of Pubic hair. Now if your docter freaks out, then you might want to consider changing doctors.

I once apologized for not shaving my legs (my thighs were like a jungle!) She told me she didn't look at my hair, she was too busy looking 'up there' to make sure she didn't hurt me and it was as comfortable as possible!

i personally cannot stand -any- body hair (which keeps me busy with the razor lol) so it all goes. just make sure the razor is sharp, and use a shave gel designed for sensitive skin. i think they even make a clear one specifically for that area so you can see what you are doing. i don't remember who it is by though.

Yeah that! Trust me, if a gyn (my RE) can take a tampon out of my hoo-ha so he could do a vag u/s (true story...happened 3 weeks ago) then I sure as hell am not worried about some pubes

I would make a point of NOT shaving or removing hair! You want the doctor to see how bad your hair issue is!
